it's not an island...on the continent itself but I can guarantee you that it beats all the rest! been to a lot of places in the carribean! COSTA RICA!
TONS of very friendly girls a lot of nice resorts from 3 to 5 stars. nice beaches a lot of daytime activities: - atv tours - canopy - surf - deep sea fishing - rafting - mountain bike - horseback riding and bars galore :thumbsup :thumbsup |

i've heard good things..... |
I agree that Costa Rica is better than any of the islands (except Cuba, of course).
|
My favorite place in the carribean is Cuba. Not the resorts of Varadero, but real Cuba.
|
Antigua is damn nice.
|
Puerto Rico is a fuckin hole, but it does have kickass cockfighting arenas.
|
most people i know dig costa rica the best, never been but i have heard its great

I like St.Thomas.Great dining and shopping. The beaches are fantastic.A bonus is that it's close enough to St.John and St.Croix that you can visit those too.
|

I've been all over the Carribeans as I used to work on a Cruise ship. The Bahamas were pretty nice, Bermuda was absolutely GORGEOUS.
Barbados and Costa Rica were my 2 favorites of course. But if you want to shop, go to St-Thomas or St-Maarten. The best beaches are around Tortolla. Hmmmm, the rest are shit holes hehe Well Mexico is pretty nice, but very touristy |

No one has mentioned Martinique? My best friend went there after he split up with his first wife (after he caught her fucking his other best friend in Vancouver), and he raved about it (Martinique) for years. I can't recall all the details but it sounded like a place I wouldn't mind checking out myself.
|
You should check out the Ritz Carlton in Grand Cayman Islands
http://www.ritzcarlton.com/resorts/g...n/default.html I heard it is going to be the ABSOLUTE best! DH |
Bermuda is awesome!

Has anyone checked out Bora Bora?
http://www.starwoodhotels.com/luxury...ropertyID=1410 That looks really nice. Saving up my Starpoints! ;) |
Costa Rica for sure. Not the Carribean side, but the Pacific side. Look for flights to Liberia, not San Jose. It's a smaller airport in the Guanacaste province with all of the nicest beaches around.
You will land within 50km or so of most of the nicest beaches in Costa Rica. Flamingo, Tamarindo, Octal, etc. You will also be a few hours drive from an active volcano with beautiful naturally heated spring water pools as part of a resort. Not overly expensive, but very nice. That's where you want to go. |
Here's another vote for Martinique. Cuba is probaly better but, umm, err, I've never been to Cuba so if anyone asks you tell em Pornwolf is a good American and he'd never go to Cuba unless George Bush - Leader of the free world - says it's ok (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)..
|
My list is:
Antigua Barbados Bermuda I've heard great things about Martinique. That's next on the list to visit. |
Not that I've been to many places in the Carribean, but one you may not know of is San Andres, Colombia.
It's an island closer to Costa Rica than it is to mainland Colombia, but it has a very rasta/carribean style. You have some HOT Colombian women, tons of activities to choose from (like taking a submarine to shark reefs, snorkeling to see an underwater aquarium, ATVs, etc...) and the land is barely touched by tourists, so it's not commercialized yet and everything is dirt cheap. You can also checkout Captain Morgan's cave, house and even party on his ship at night in the middle of the ocean! Drink some "aguadiente" if you're ever there..... Aside from that, as people said you'd find it hard to not enjoy Costa Rica :thumbsup |

It's also a tax-free port and handy for "no taxes" tourist stuff. |

He can get you well-buried - they all want to move in with ya and "set up home" :1orglaugh You'd be pushing a trolley around the supermarket behind her watching her ass before anyone could say "Hola!" :winkwink: |
Then there's Margarita Island... http://www.mapquest.com/atlas/?region=margarta
I met a couple in Acapulco that had been there several times and absolutely raved about the party life of Margarita Island, said they were dying to go back. Fun crazy couple from the Maples in Winnipeg, I'm sure they've been back there several times since then. |

It is very expensive and very worth it. If you go, spend at least one afternoon at Nikki Beach. Order a pitcher of mojitos and have the pretty girls give you a beach side massage at your cabanna. Wherever it is you choose, Enjoy. |

A place that serves Mojitos by the pitcher and massages! Sign me up!!!!! WG |

I've always wanted to go to altantis in the bahamas. I went to jamaca once for new years. great concert I remember. I wouldnt go back there cause I felt like I was in mexico even though I love the music.
Everyone raves about club med. you might want to concider that. Wish I could be more help. Cause I've always wanted to go myself |
