360 Modena Spyder or Lamborghini Gallardo

Ok here is the deal, for as long as I can remember I always wanted a Ferrari.

The new F430 is about impossible to get, and $100k over sticker.

Should I get the Ferrari?

http://www.mcarsweb.com/ferrari/360spider.jpg

Or I have really been like the Gallardo...

http://www.rose-hulman.edu/~hooglaaj...i_Gallardo.jpg

I can't make up my mind and my 30th birthday is coming and I need a new ride.

Dalai lama 10-24-2005 12:25 PM

Lamborghini Gallardo no doubt.

EroticySteve 10-24-2005 12:25 PM

Gallardo is a piece of shit. Get the 360.

Why not testdrive them both, and decide yourself?

pornguy 10-24-2005 12:31 PM

As far as RC cars go, either is nice, but you are limited where you can drive them. I would go with a monster truck.

The 360 is an old gray haired man's midlife crisis car. Get the Gallardo Ace, you're too young for a 360 :)

dynastoned 10-24-2005 12:36 PM

ferrari's are nice. :)

EroticySteve 10-24-2005 12:41 PM

Don't get me wrong, both are great cars and if you can afford either and value their design and performance great.

For me I think prestige is as important as performance.

Ferrari has decades of racing heritage and their cars recieve their design and engineering cues and innovations from race technology. The Lamborghini is well expensive, and stylish.

With German cars you're either a Benz guy or a BMW guy. I'm a Benz driver because I like the cars better for many reasons including a heritage of quality that goes back over 100 years.

Allan you'll be happy either way and I want a ride.

Typical Ferrari owner repsonse. You and the met-art guy should hook up :)

Drive what you like, what appeals to you not what someone says is better becuase some guy won a race 30 years ago with the sticker on the side of his car :)

Once you drive the 360 Modena, you will love it. It's so fun to drive. Way funner to drive then my Lambo.

Gallardo is nice, but I always look at them like a wanna be Lambo, but the interior is really nice.

I have never drivin the Gallardo but I love the 360.

Either way, they are both very nice. 430 is hot but very hard to get for sure.

Yes, I agree drive what you like. At the end of the day as nice as a Lamborhini is, it's still not a Ferrari.

The Gallardo is much more drivable than the Murci is. It's a much more comparable car to the 360/430. Comparing the Murci to a 360 is like comparing an S-Class to a A6 or something. They're too different to compare.

EroticySteve 10-24-2005 12:54 PM

Allan either car is pimp. Saying the Gallardo is a piece of shit isn't a fair statement. Either way you'll be happy. Those are both cars that are the envy of most who appreciate fine automobiles.

Exactly my point :)

Ferrari = for cocky older people who think a car makes a person :)

Ferrari guys are like Porsche guys. The vast majority of them (not all of course) are driving it simply for the name. Whatever helps them sleep at night I guess :)

TMM_John 10-24-2005 12:59 PM

BTW Allen, It's spIder :)

Taboo 10-24-2005 01:00 PM

Buy yourself a ZONDA Roadster.
http://www.paganiautomobili.it/

If I sell a few more domains I'll buy one, unless of course I pour the money right back into more domains. vicious cycle. :1orglaugh

.

Enderprise 10-24-2005 01:01 PM

Get a Ferrari. You'll thank me later and so will Exxon.

Moe 10-24-2005 01:10 PM

Ferrari, no doubt about it. Still an amazing Italian engineered car. Lambourghini has gone a lil down hill after Audi took over and started making them even though it is still a beautiful car. But regarding looks and the whole package, Id pick the ferrari any day of the week.

No, if you want to know the truth the answers lay in the engineering. But if you think that I was creating a status issue you're wrong.

Win on Sunday, sell on Monday.

Many of the best and most seemingly simple innovations in our everyday passenger cars come from racing.

Again, the Lamborghini isn't a bad car. It's nice, I'd drive one, but if my choice was between a 360 and a Gallardo, I'd choose 360 for more reasons than I have time to post.

Minte 10-24-2005 01:10 PM

I just went through this about a month ago.Drive them both and the decision will be easy.

phonesex 10-24-2005 01:11 PM

Id go with the lambo. Have you at all tested a porsche 911 turbo?

BradShaw 10-24-2005 01:17 PM

sl65 if you do not want your $200k sitting in the garage and not able to drive on a daily basis.

Sosa 10-24-2005 01:18 PM

can't go wrong with either one

Win on Sunday, sell on Monday is a GM/Chevy statement :)

And you're still missing the point. The Ferrari/Lambo thing is just as bad as the Camaro/Mustang crowd except that with teh Ferrari/Lambo arguement 99% of the people in the argument haven't even driven the cars let alone own them. Thats why I typically don't bother with it. Don't know why I did here :)

My point is drive what you like. If someone likes a car because of how it looks don't run and scream at them "But this other car has heritage" or "This car gets 60 miles to the gallon" or whatever. Drive what you like, let others do the same :)

We should make a rule here that if you want to comment you need to post what you drive first (this is general, not directed towards you :) )

Minte 10-24-2005 01:20 PM

If I need to get groceries,I'll take the mercedes. If I want to go out and DRIVE I take the Lambo or the Porsche..

BTW..
The dealer that sold me my Gallardo, just got this in.The new Gallardo SE..

WiredGuy 10-24-2005 01:22 PM

Well, you did say you've always wanted the Ferrari and there's the certain prestige of owning one. I say go for the Ferrari but definitely test drive them both first.

I was hoping to qualify my statement a bit better by making the Mercedes-Benz/BMW comparison which is a bit closer to Ferrari/Lamborghini than Chevy/Ford.

I'm not missing your point. I got your point. Drive what you like. I agree. However, Allan asked for our opinions and I gave mine. You gave yours. The difference is I'm not telling you you're wrong for having your opinion.

I have a different set of criteria for choosing the cars I drive than perhaps some.

To end this. If your choice is between these two rides, I'd say go Ferrari. However, BradShaw makes a good point too. That SL 65 is sick.

Biggy 10-24-2005 01:48 PM

Get a FastSize and save yourself the money :)

Screaming 10-24-2005 01:51 PM

Heres the thing, the gallardos doors dont go up. If you are paying that much + driving a "lambo" the doors should go up IMHO.

get the 360.
made the worst experiences possible with lambos.
the gallardo is quite a bit faster, however the 360 and his 400hp are sufficient.

I understand your point. :) I was more meaning to disagree with your putting down of other people's preferences and opinions than your choice of yours. You took me as doing what I was seeing you as doing :)

Your starting off with "Gallardo Sucks" is what got me thinking you are in the same shoes as most of the people I see on the Lambo/Ferrari boards.

I still disagree with your opinion but didn't mean you weren't entitled to it :)

TMM_John 10-24-2005 02:04 PM

However Minte is correct. Drive both, buy what you like. IMO that is what you should buy a car based on.

Downtime 10-24-2005 02:07 PM

get the Ferrari Allan

Mako 10-24-2005 02:17 PM

Wow. Some very uninformed comments being made in this thread, as usual when people pop off about things they have no experience in.

DatingGold: Best thing you can do is drive both. One will make itself the clear winner. I've spent a ton of time in both of them, and it's truthfully not a fair comparison. The 360 is an older car, developed in the mid-90s, with 100 less HP than the newer Gallardo. Like the NSX, or Lotus Esprit, the 360 is a bit dated when compared to the newer cars.

Just go drive them and you'll find the one that best matches your needs.

RogerV 10-24-2005 02:33 PM

I just test drove the New Lotus Elise tricked out the other day and it was fun

not much room but it gets the job done for a weekend car at only 50k
