Extra IP's - how to get them from your host?

It seems like all major hosts (at least mine) demands a justification or reason before supplying you with extra IP's. I got a big bunch of PR4 domains, which I would really like to be on single IP's...

How do you get around that with your host?

Zebra 10-24-2005 05:35 AM

$$$ - usually solves the problem

We have always given individual IPs for every domain that we host.

i tell them they are for search engine reasons, and they always give them to me

shit, with my account at theplanet, i can just give any basic reason....my usual one is that I need them for ip distribution to clients

if you use enough bandwidth and give them enough money, they will have no troubles giving you more ip's

adultchica 10-24-2005 05:41 AM

You can get one automatically with webair when adding a domain. No waiting or beating around the bush. If you go over on your plan, it's like 2$ per month for an extra IP.

darksoul 10-24-2005 05:41 AM

tell them you want to use SSL on your domains :)

I thought about that, but to ask for IP's to 14 domains for that seems a little extreme to me.. what if they want some kind of proff or something??

It really depends on the DC policy.

I use one in NY. To have extra Ip's ( up to 256 ! ), all I need is a credit card.

In another one, I have to " justify " ... and when I get an extra 5 to 10, I am happy!

Boss Traffic Jim 10-24-2005 07:30 AM

I host at www.techiemedia.com and they give me all the ip's I need, actually they put all my domains on separate ip's if I want. :thumbsup

Antonio 10-24-2005 07:31 AM

I pay $2.00 for extra IP

Farout 10-24-2005 07:48 AM

Thanks for all the replies.. seems like every hosting company got there own rules and practices..

Anybody uses iweb.ca or knows how difficult it is to get extra IP's with a dedicated server there?

LOL .... I have trouble getting Name servers IP with Iweb....

It is as hard to get as it is to find a virgin at an Internet show.

On the other hand , I have a few unused there ( 4 to 6 ) , so if you change hosting, I could allocated them to you.

Screaming 10-24-2005 08:32 AM

I just ask for them.

theplanet/servermatrix ROCKS... just be like i need more IPs and they'll give them to you for a monthly fee. if your hosting ask why just say SSL or for DNS

fuzebox 10-24-2005 09:47 AM

It's easy, you just email [email protected] and ask :)

baddog 10-24-2005 10:40 AM

multiple IP's with multiple Class C's and multiple nameservers are no problem, virtual or dedicated, at www.gotwebhost.com

No "justification" required.

DutchTeenCash 10-24-2005 10:40 AM

any bigger host will take care of that for some $

I Fucked Her 10-24-2005 10:43 AM

You can get with a little $ new IPS for your domains.

abz 10-24-2005 10:50 AM
