buying expired domains question

I have my eye on certain domains that are about to expire.

One in particular is expiring in a couple hours..
If the owner renewed, would the whois already be updated?
Anyway, I am planning on registering it the minute it expires. Could the owner who had it for the last 3 years fight me for it? I checked the se's & it has no linkbacks whatsoever, so can't imagine it having traffic for the owner to worry about. It is also a non trademarkable domain.

another one I want has 4,420 linkbacks & the whois record does not show as expired until 2 more weeks, but when i visit the domain i get one of those parking pages, you know the kind with links on them & has the link "why am i seeing this page", etc.. does that mean I have to buy it from them instead of my own registrar.

Who is the registrar? If it's network solutions, check out snapnames.com and see if the domain is in there. Look for the registrar and see if they have a partnership with a service like snapnames. You may have to type in a search and if you see the domain you want, you may have to bid on it!

No, I'm j/k. I don't even know you. Just wanted to second what adultchica recommended. I'd check out snapnames.com if it's network solutions.
