vegeterians are 10x more healthy than you.

Fletch XXX 10-22-2005 12:12 PM

My health is the main reason.

ssp 10-22-2005 12:12 PM

Oh oh, this is turning into a catfight. Hang on guys, let me open up a beer first. Thankfully beer doesn't contain any animals.

Paul Waters 10-22-2005 12:13 PM

I was going to have a 10oz New York steak for dinner tonight.

To make up for you, I'll have a 14oz one instead.

No way. No catfight. I'm in Sac getting ready for tonight's party. I'm not in the mood to argue. Today's a fun day, as was last night.

Outta here. :)

i have only been eating light meat for awhile.

i really dont care about the animals honestly, more about my health.

for some reason when i eat meat now i feel sick, as i get older i dont like it as much.

thick slabs of meat, admittedly i used to love, but now its become hard for me to enjoy it.

I have always eaten lots of fresh fruit and salads. I eaten 3 salads a day plus fruits for years now. The only time i ever feel bad after eating is when its a bunch of meat - not sure why, but theres no need to ctoniue something that makes me feel sick afetr i do it.

Fletch XXX 10-22-2005 12:21 PM

nice, check out how i spelled "continue" = ctoniue

killer

Okay, more meat for me then? I love my steak, love the barbecued pork tenderloins, the extra-lean sirloin burgers, sausage with my eggs and hash browns once a week, chicken done any one of 100 different ways, grilled salmon steaks (very healthy I might add), grilled shrimp kebabs, Steak & lobster, and dozens of other varieties of meat dishes just way to much to give it up.

I can't.

I won't!

I include plenty of fruits and vegetables and grains in my diet, always have. But to go 100% meatless..... the thought of it depresses me. I'm a carnivore through and through

sumphatpimp 10-22-2005 12:25 PM

appears your body doesn't want to digest it like it used to.

i know what you mean about losing the taste for meat.
I has a heart attack a few years ago and had to go light on the meat because of cholesterol. after awhile I did lose the taste for beef or steak.
now I just eat a lot of chicken and fish.
and veggies and fruit.

It's because your body is no longer used to meat. You should have seen my buddy the day after he went on a meat frenzy after being a veggie for 3 years.

The argument that you will be healthier is very questionable because humans need meat or meat supplements to some degree. I think you'll still do better than those fat slobs munching away cheeseburgers all day.

I'm glad you don't do it for the animals.

Spunky 10-22-2005 12:26 PM

I'm eating more seafood and chickens myself

Fletch XXX 10-22-2005 12:29 PM

from dictionary.com

The edible flesh of animals, especially that of mammals as opposed to that of fish or poultry.

Brad Gosse 10-22-2005 12:39 PM

cherrylula 10-22-2005 12:40 PM

is beef jerky meat?

jawanda 10-22-2005 12:40 PM

I cut out the meat / poultry about 6 years ago, still eat fish though, and it's been a good thing. It's just what works best for me, to each his own.

People on either side of the "debate" who actually give a shit what OTHER people are eating piss me off to no end ....

Peaches 10-22-2005 02:01 PM

If God didn't want us to eat meat, he wouldn't have made it taste so good :)

Fletch XXX 10-22-2005 02:02 PM

i dont believe in god though

High Quality 10-22-2005 02:03 PM

I was a veggie for 7 years in my youth.

It was fine once you forget what meat tastes like.

now rush to a store and catch up for those minutes that you didn't eat meat :thumbsup

Peaches 10-22-2005 02:09 PM

I think I told this story to Brad Gosse during dinner - my sister has been a vegetarian since she was 5 (she's 29 now) and was vegan for a few of those years. We went to a country restaurant a while back and she ordered beans, not realizing they were cooked with pork. We being the mean siblings/family that we are (we many times order veal just to watch her squirm ;) ) didn't say a word.

We all had a good laugh when she kept saying they were the best beans she'd ever tasted in her life :)

She's been living with a non-veg for a few years and he's slowing bringing her over to the dark side.........we like him ;)

don't like eating chickens, etc.

I've never felt healthier since cutting out meat and the thought of eating the muscles of dead animals makes me gag now..

But yeh, for the meat mongers continue on clogging up your arteries with animal fat.

:thumbsup

mardigras 10-22-2005 03:32 PM

I've been vegetarian (except for occasional seafood) for 2 decades now.

My reasons are strictly health, I have no problem with leather, etc.

The current demand for meat products requires that they be raised in confined spaces, often stacked in crates on top of each other. This requires steroids to replace bulk gained in nature by activity. On top of that, the close confines require anti-biotics and other medicines to keep diseases from spreading amongst the animals. Many of these compounds are not neutralized during the cooking process. The situation is even worse when you take into consideration the unsanitary, negligent and sometimes intentionally abusive processing facilities exposed many times by hidden camera.

I can only report my own results. I am the only vegetarian in my family and am the only one who hasn't caught a cold/flu/etc. for 2 decades. If you are eating anti-biotics at most of your meals it only stands to reason that you will develop a resistance to them. :2 cents:
