Bound to get me in trouble here...
I do realize that this post will seem full of naivete and that I will be mocked and yelled at until I disappear. And you would be right to feel that way and react that way. Here's the thing: I respect this board as I do no other. And I listen well to the advice dispersed from this board. All of us do. So I will take my chances.
I am working with a team of 5 people in FL - all with various degress of experience in film production and business admin. We have been working towards launching a pay site for over a year now. A great deal of planning and research and all the rest of it has gone into that. This is the part where you laugh. We are finding that content is very difficult to attain, even in the best of circumstances. We pay, we are law-abiding, all that. Here's the question...and this is when you stone me to death. Is it simply better and easier for people in our scenario to license content for sites and put those out instead of trying to compete in a field that is essentially run by millionaires and corporations? Are we fooling ourselves to think we can produce our own content and get rich in the process? I would really like to know the opinions of the people on this board on this one. I am not trying to waste everyone's time or piss anyone off. And I am genuinely sorry if I did either. |
I know GFY can be a place where you can get flamed but it is all in good fun. God, we all started somewhere and everyone here was at some point just starting out. I say fuck em if you get flamed or slammed or ridiculed. There is money to be made and if you are taking the time researching and developing, you are ahead of the game from most people on the board. The key to success is having the right niche/product or even the right girl. You can succeed in this biz and don't let people sway you. You might not make anything or you might do extremely well...up to you. Don't give up, hell you might not make a dime for months or you might have the right site/content to make $$ right off bat. Good luck to ya.
What part of Florida are you in? |

Goes without saying there's an inherent sense of satisfaction in producing content yourself...something you won't get by simply purchasing content licensing. But it can be a lot of work at times, even when its something you personally enjoy doing. Take the time and make an honest self-assessment as to whether you have the skills and ambition needed to create your own content. And above all, you'll need a good measure of perseverance. Over the years I've seen a shitload of wannabe-players come and go in our fetish market, many disillusioned because they didn't make money in the first 72 hours. Set your goals, consider your resources...and go from there. Your results may vary :winkwink: SilentKnight www.kastlearchives.com www.fetishopolis.com www.chamberofchains.com |
You seem really cautious of putting yourself and your question out there. honestly the people that would flame you for a legitimate business question or make fun of you over what you posted above are not worth your time and more than likely have ZERO knowledge to offer you anyhow because they spend every waking hour of the day to come up with a real "Zinger" so they can high five their buddies and chant "BURN" while surfing internet porn dreaming of what real pussy must taste like.
In essence, Good luck, I am sure you will get a few good answers, and try to ignore the idiots, they are spawning at an alarming rate as of late. |
Well what are the setbacks that you are facing? Are you having a hard time finding models? Are you unable to produce quality photos/video once you get the talent? If your stuff looks amateur, do an amateur site! I'm not sure what exactly the problem you are experiencing is ... but definitely don't give up. Of course purchasing content from someone else is easier, but if you have the resources to shoot your own it can really pay off in the long run.
Oh, welcome to the board and :321GFY -Phil |
