is it possible to run 2 RAID 0 configurations on one machine?

i've got a dual core p4 box with an intel 82801gr/gh SATA RAID controller on the motherboard & 4 SATA connection slots
& 2 hard drives configured RAID 0 already.

can i just go into the RAID config window on boot up and create a separate RAID array that will recognize and pick up 2 other hard drives?

or is it not possible or is there more to it?

i googled it and could not find anything
:thumbsup

With the right raid card you could potentially run two raid zeros and then join them as a raid 1. I'm not sure if you could run them seperately, I imagine you could, but the likelihood that the motherboard would be supporting that natively very well seems slim. Best bet is a nice raid card by the likes of 3ware that has it's own processor and ram on it for a good, reliable configuration.

I've got 2 Raid 0's on one machine but it's a Dell poweredge 6450 and I'm not sure how to set one up from scratch

If it's an Intel RAID controller it may support "Matrix"

I have a RAID5 and RAID0 setup on the same 3 drives.

I don't know if you can actually shrink a RAID array to fit a new one in. I just thought it would be a good idea to have a striped array for scratch so I redid the lot (new machine, nothing much on it anyways).

Whoops, saw you wanted to set up a separate physical array... that shouldn't be a prob at all. Check the intel website and do a search for the chipset #.

I would say no, can't be done.

If you card supports it, you can make a new "logical drive" with the 2 new disks and make it a stripe. Joining it with the other array would be the ideal solution, then you have RAID 0 + 1
