Ohio Woman Arrested for $1 in Unpaid Taxes
 

i was just reading about a woman in loveland ohio who was arrested while going to her car for not paying $1.16 in taxes LAST YEAR and not filing for the past five years.

I understand that the law is the law.

However, some discretion must be used in all situations. Logic and humane actions should prevail.

However, as we should already know, this may not be the entire story.

The funny thing is, that under IRS code, if you do not owe them, then you dont have to file. But if you owe them, you need to file.

What a waste of resources for a fucking dollar.

Ive not filed in the past and the irs send me letters to contact them to file and pay what I owe. She must have recieved those letters and choose to ignore them. she shouldve taken those warnings seriously I guess. But the irs is kinda fair if you did not file and gives you a chance to before they send in the swat team

the first funny thing is, the above case is dealing with state and local taxes, not federal (IRS code? err.. you mean the IRC?).

the second funny thing is, you may have an obligation to file under the IRC even if you do not OWE anything. :1orglaugh
