darksoul 10-20-2005 07:14 AM

what processor do you use ?

ElvisManson 10-20-2005 07:16 AM

welcome to the world of managing charge backs....lol

Do you track the individual sources of traffic through the join process?

Doing this gives you the opportunity to spend more time getting profitable traffic.

Whats your approval rate?

KRL 10-20-2005 07:24 AM

Setup an alternative page for them to mail you a check or money order. You'll be surprised how many will do that.

:thumbsup

Your processor has multiple accounts like yours they do billing for ( duh, I know I am stating the obvious). Part of their strategy to manage their overall chargebacks is to "Scrub" the attempted sign ups against a variety of databases. Fraud, history of charging back using that credit card etc...

hit me on ICQ..I might be able to make a few suggestions.

:2 cents:

Dunno if anyone else notices this, but the first 20-25 days of the month are usually really good, then the last 5-10 days of the month the scrubbing goes UP! I guess thats to make sure the IPSP doesn't go over 1% overall or something. Seems to reset at the start of the month. Also if you go over 0.6% chargeback ratio's your individual scrubbing on your account goes up and you lose another 20% worth of sales. OUCH!

Scrubbing sucks but its nessesary with the rules we all have to deal with now days I guess.

Get a 2nd processor if you can afford it, you'll notice a 10-12% jump in extra sales when using great cascading software like NATS

Are you seeing more sales on your own site vs pushing other sponsors yet?

Yes. The only sponsor better then my site is Naughty America but thats because I have about 10,000 galleries out there for them lol.

Im not going to be pushing anything but my own stuff from now on. Unless it's really hot.

Well, not really. Keep in mind that chargebacks aren't coming in realtime, they're delayed in days and sometimes months. Imagine if you're billing processor and you noticed that your overall c/b ratio raised too high this month. What would you do? If you will try to scrub harder, then you will get less transactions at the same month, i.e. your c/b ratio will be higher. Also, you can't predict how many c/b you will get from the bank by the end of month, well unless you're professional weather forecaster :)

As for the sales - we can see the stable tendency of weekly changes (depending day of the week), holidays, but not monthly changes. If customers spend less by the end of month it's not about scrubbing, I believe.

You can offer big value specials this way as well.

For example try a promo;

"Pay By Mail and Get a Full 3 Year VIP Membership For A One Time Fee of Just $69.95."

Checks like that can add up to a nice amount.

fris 10-20-2005 09:44 AM

what niche is your paysite? and is it exclusive?

It's not the scrub that goes up. It just a higher chance for the average joe to have their card maxxed out by the end of the month. He will get declined - non sufficient funds.
