Its a bit debatable that this is allowed - I was reading an article yesterday that discussed it, it suggests that it may count as an "incentive to click".

Id research it a bit before using it. Maybe even try to get an answer from google (good luck!)

It just catches attention but isn't against their TOS.

I'm heavily using it for more than two months now and didn't get any e-mails from google telling me that the way I do it isn't ok.

Some claimed that google asked them to seperate images for the ads more clearly but that's about it.

The fluctuating amount of ads (underperformers get removed) since august also didn't affect me in any way.

Oh please, not that rich fucking jerk crap

Totally depends on what images you use. I've talked to Google about this on several occasions. Don't use arrows or some shit like that, just put regular (but relevant to your site/service) pictures and all is good.

Funny how the Nick with 16 posts recommends the same book that the big check pic links too. and look here....its all click bank. SPAM! gotta love it.

khs 10-19-2005 11:03 AM

thanks for the tip!

Do you do only Financial sites or other keywords too. I've got 3 financial sites and the pay per click is the highest for those key words, but now I am experimenting with Sports.

~Ray 10-19-2005 11:23 AM

how do you do that with 1000's of pages?

stereolab 10-19-2005 11:23 AM

make sure the images are completely generic ads. in other words, don't show a pic of an ipod, because the ad might be about something else. google will say that you are misleading the surfer. the examples at the top of this thread are good.

BTW: this method didn't help me that much. d/n/t the large rectangle!

I'm in all areas where I can get decent PPC revenues. I don't depend on SE traffic alone - if you do it's a bit more difficult of course to find the right niches at the right time, before everybody is massively pushing a certain niche and the bids go down.

warlock5 10-19-2005 11:28 AM

I saw one site that was pulling the images from Google Images based on search keywords. It was kind of funny to search things like "ass" or "sex" and get porno images next to adsense ads.. I reported them.

You don't, that's nothing for autogenerated pages where background integration (ad with the same background color as the site) still mostly works best for me on a large scale.

It's great, but has nothing to do with adsense. Just wondering that the owner never got into troubles because the pics are all from rather questionable sources.

adonthenet 10-19-2005 11:46 AM

Another good way is to follow Google's 'heat map'

From what i've read, it's full of rudimentary knowledge that most web publishers already know (aka waste of $). Although I give the guy credit for his great marketing of the book.
