Does your printer print anonymously?
 

Recently the EFF discovered that a large number of printers print a
microscopic code which contains date and serial number of the printer.

what is the point about that?

It's an agreement between the US secret service and printer manufactures.
It's supposed to be able to track the origin of counterfeit money.....but as
you can understand it could be used for a hell of a lot more......you could
track back any printed document to printer and owner of that printer.

waranty? service contract? Each device sold its serial number is stored with
the transaction...unless you pay with cash it can be tracked.....to the owner
or person who paid for it......or at least which store and where it was sold.

IF you wanna blackmail someone then those things are easy to get rid off.

Buy a HP somewhere in nono-land or 2nd hand pick it up by someone else cash payment... so many ways to get rid of that...

Apparently my color-laser doesn't have those thingies.. but my photoshop CS2 prevents me from printing money.

know about it in order to take precautions
