Which digital camera?

So my Sony DSC S-50 (bought years back) is in need of a replacement. I bought the Sony Pro 1 GB stick for it last night, it didn't work since the camera's only 2.1 MP and so old, so I'd be stuck with 128 MB which is shit. Since I'm going on vacation next month I wanted something that can do excellent quality digital stills while at the same time take great video. Most of the cameras I saw at Best Buy that were seeming halfway decent ran off of double-A batteries (wtf?). Any suggestions for a great camera with a lithium battery? Sony? Canon? Thanks for the input!!

Regards,

JM

I have konica minolta dimage z5. It's not bad it's using 4 AA batteries (I'm using chargable batteries). It's advantage IMHO because in terrain (or abroad) you something cannot charge batteries so you can buy any alcalic AA batteries and have a fun :)

Thanks for the info, but really looking for one with a lithium battery hrm...You know what's funny? Went to Expo last night (electronics store known for "bargains"), and the douche behind the counter the other night told me he'd sell the mem stick to me for 80 (90 with 10 instant rebate), and I come back the night after (last night) and he tells me 100 with $10 mail-in rebate, then tried to charge me $20 for a UV lens/filter, and give me a "deal" to throw in 3 lens wipes for free. Told me that the stick would work no problem with the camera (I brought it in), when I popped the one in from Best Buy ( I told Expo guy to fuck off basically), Memory Stick Error flashed. The UV lens was $10 at Best Buy (same exact one), and the whole cleaning kit (not just 3 fucking wipes) was $6. Heh, fucking Expo.

I am going to Thailand in like a week and I wanted to take some nice pictures on the vacation but didnt really have a good camera. Well I just bought a Sony DSC w17 (same model as w7 just diffrent color) it got a great big screen and 7.2 mp! Get it from newegg with a fast 1GB memory stick and you are all set for the vacation.

If you are buying anythin from newegg dont pay through paypal since paypal takes ages to validate your information!!! But newegg and the camera is great!! :D

I got a Kodak Easy Share because it was compact and had sound video with no time limit. It takes acceptable video, but I really like the picture quality. It can use either the rechargable battery pack or 2 AA batteries.

If you're wanting excellent video you won't like the Easy Share. It's strength is excellent pictures.

I have the Canon 20D. But that is a bit pricy just for vacation and stuff.

Canon PowerShot SD500 (or Digital Ixus 700 for us europenii):

http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/con... odelid=11157

Small, sexy, very solid construction. 7.1mpix, 3x zoom, excellent flash (for such a small camera). And of course great image & video quality (can do 640x480 and there's a 60FPS mode too).

Got mine a few months ago, and absolutely love it. Think there's a new version out there already, but not sure what the difference is.

I am not that good when it comes to cameras but I think sonny makes the best one.
