thats what I did on my swingers site (well moved the links form links page to homepage) but didn't see much difference in traffic! :(

Even better, show the toplist multiple times. On many of my sites I have a mini toplist that shows the best 3 trades (in large type) and then the top 15 or 20 repeated between each thumb section.

That's even a better tip. DEFINATELY post a couple of toplists, either repeat them or like Rowan says, make mini toplists.
