I decided it was too expensive. It is against my principles to pay so much for a simple console.

500$ canadian is too much for just a console. Plus, I have to buy extra controllers plus some games.

For the same price I can get a damn good PC, and with civilization 4 and Age Of Empires 3 being released this month, getting a new PC seems a better choice.

Last I heard, it had a release date that would coincide with holiday shopping.

My oldest son has every system in all versions except Game Cube, and the younger son has it. I had already resigned myself to the fact that it was probably going to be on his Christmas list.

But when he was home on fall break, he told me that he didn't want one. Said they were too expensive. I don't know that I've ever heard the words "too expensive" come out of his mouth in relation to my money.

Its not that expensive, xbox + a few accessories = same price when it came out. Surely if your stats are so hot you'll have no problem dishin out $500 for it.

Well if you were getting premium pack, Original XBOX in USD was $299. HD advanced pack was $29, dvd remote was $29, xbox live headset was $29. Thats $386.. Xbox 360 comes with all above in premium pack, with 20gig hard disk, not 8gig, also a wireless controler. It's same price for a console that is probley 3 or 4 times more powerful.

It's supposed to come out on November 22nd. I have 3 of them pre-ordered at different places. One for me now, and one for each of my boys for Christmas :)

I clearly remember buying the original X-Box for right at $200 when it launched. I got very lucky and got a specially packed box that included 1 controller with it. I haven't looked lately, but when I last did, WalMart was going to list the bare bones version of 360 at $300. And...and this is a huge and for me...games will be higher as well.

That was dumb. About a week before they ship you could have sold it on eBay for about a $400 profit. Unless you weren't on the first shipment list that is.

I'm sorry. It was nearly $300 when I got it. I had a brain quake. But I really don't think that the live capability was with it when we got it. I can remember being at Circuit City and buying the router and all the crap to network it, the headphones and some game...Halo?...I dunno, I just buy the stuff. Anyhow, the sales guy wanted me to adopt him. :1orglaugh

It's gonna open up a whole new area of gaming and unfortunately them making more money with their marketplace where you can buy and instantly download piles of games, both old and new, THAT should make it very interesting.

As far as price goes. If you get the system when it first comes out, you're gonna get at least 4-5 years outta it before something better comes out, so why not buy it ?

$500 fuckin bucks for a VIDEO GAMING SYSTEM????? does it come with an interactive dildo/fleshlight w/ CD, too??? For that price, it better! Fuckin christ. $200 for PS2 + $50 a game was enough for me (and its not doin nothin but sitting around collecting dust.)

If you can wait, get a used one after xmas. Imagine how many used units will be on the market in early 06...

The thing that I don't understand about the people complaining about the price is that it's an Xbox 360 which is made for GAMERS. If you're a true gamer, you'd know that it'd cost you $400-$500 alone just for a top video card for your computer, so comparing it to that, it does seem like a damn good deal to get a 100-gig hard drive and top notch video.

Keep in mind that the system is gonna sell for $299 without hard drive or $399 with hard drive, SO when you're paying more than that for the bundle, it's a BUNDLE with games and sometimes an extra controller, depending on your package, so then it really doesn't sound that bad of a deal.

I'm outgrowing games. I have my PS2, no need for anything more unless something revolutionary comes out. I work too much to play games.
