John Carpenter Halloween - soon to be a remake

Why oh why must they ruin classic horror movies? Imagine Sarah Michelle Gellar or even Paris Hilton as Laurie Strode. :throwup

Not sure why they would even want to remake what was once considered low budget b-grade slasher films. It is not they they are particularly hard to write.
Hollywood needs to get off of its remake frenzy and also stop with the fucking pg-13 bullshit which I personally blame for most of the crap they produce.

Be still my heart Paris Hilton,
what a way to ruin a true classic horror film.
Who will play the doctor this time Kelsey Grammer ?

correction...it was basically the slasher film that set the rules for and kicked off a whole genre of slasher horror flicks.

Nightmare on Elm St.
Scream
Friday the 13th
Saw

All inspired by Halloween.

My first sentance was an overall statement not just limited to Halloween. I happen to be a huge horror fan and understand what your saying. I am just talking about the need to remake such films when it was not the script that really drove them anyways.

Easy money is why they do it. Studios will have a fairly precise estimate of the roi on this kind of venture. Every horror buff that hates the idea of remaking a seminal classic will go see it, every kid who missed the first will go see it, and so on. They will know even now the future ticket sales, future dvd/satellite/cd sales, future merchandise sales, and so on. Predictable investment.

The last remake of Carpenter's was Assault on Precinct 13. This was a poor choice for a remake. Excellent film, but not possessed with the same notoriety as Halloween.

Personally, I wish studios would further the medium, as opposed to suck off the corpses of it's past successes.

ya know, we're living in a time where EVERYTHING is a fuckin remake. not just movies, but "sampling" (which really is stealing) in songs.

i started listening to slow r&b on a radio station out here while i work (needed a switch up from heavy metal lol) and i cant tell you how many classic r&b songs have been "sampled" and are on the Billboard Top 100 List.

fuckin amazing. we're just recycling.
