What's your EARL ???

The first time someone asked me this I said, " What the hell's my what?" :bigears

Seems they just wanted my website address. I've always said U.R.L. and pronounced the letters.

How about you? Is there a norm? Does it really matter?

8 Characters 10-18-2005 10:53 AM

you're right, it's YOU ARE ELLE .

pornguy 10-18-2005 10:54 AM

I pronounce the letters as well. Even then some people dont know what I am talking about. But I have also heard it called an EARL

StuartD 10-18-2005 10:57 AM

I pronounce it "website address" or "domain name"

Guess it's because I can't spell ULR... I mean, RLU.. uhmm...

8 Characters 10-18-2005 11:11 AM

some people say "What's your Email?"

wtf does that mean

EroticySteve 10-18-2005 11:20 AM

I say each, depends on who i'm talking to and what their skill level is.

My mom would have no idea what an "earl" or a URL is. She woudln't even know what a domain name is.

She would know what a website address is.

Brad Gosse 10-18-2005 11:30 AM

That's a real pet peeve of mine.

What's your earl?
Try this earl.
Read that earl back to me.

U.R.L

lisa k 10-18-2005 11:33 AM

I say the letters U.R.L

BruceM 10-18-2005 12:08 PM

I say U.R.L. or domain, or website.

SilentKnight 10-18-2005 12:11 PM

"Earl has to die" (dixie chix)

Its U.R.L.

"earl" sounds like some stoopid fuckin' valley-trash speak. :2 cents:

S.K.

OMG Jim 10-18-2005 01:36 PM

Man I'm glad we've got that all cleared up now.
Reminds me I've gotta git my earl changed in my pickup!!

Sosa 10-18-2005 02:27 PM

lol I have never heard it said that way.

NoWhErE 10-18-2005 02:56 PM

I spell URL, but I saw LAWL for "lol"

But people who actually say LAWL in a conversation are stupid. Either laugh or say "thats funny", but never say LAWL

For the love of God, don't!

adultchica 10-18-2005 02:58 PM

I have never heard it said that way, and i live in the South where we are known for coming up with hick-sounding things. Even rednecks pronounce it "U.R.L".

Wiggles 10-18-2005 04:00 PM

i say u.r.l. or website address :)

xclusive 10-18-2005 04:02 PM

I usually say domain

LiveDose 10-18-2005 04:04 PM

Domain or U.R.L. for me...

Theprincipal 10-18-2005 04:17 PM

I usually never have to say U.R.L in person, there are idiots who type earl online though

AmateurFlix 10-18-2005 05:35 PM

pronounce the letters myself

anybody know why so much blog documentation refers to it as "URI" rather than URL?

gornyhuy 10-18-2005 06:17 PM

reminds me of people who say "animated jiff"

reynold 10-18-2005 06:40 PM

A domain name instead or spell out the letters instead of just saying URL to make sure.

~Ray 10-18-2005 06:41 PM

I say "addy" to give the impression that I'm hip :)

Tat2Jr 10-18-2005 07:02 PM

I have never in my life heard a URL called a "earl". This is like the first time I heard the term "I'm fixing to"..... HUH?

Screaming 10-18-2005 07:43 PM

url is what i know it as
