Wonder how good they would be for domains that I want to register and hold.
Anyone have good experience with them? or any experience at all? |
I have a domain with them and the service is very slow but no problems other than that.
|
well i made another post about it but i will elaborate..
First off lets clarify , you can only get one of them for that price i think Secondly . The registrar is some australian outfit.. thats not so terrible but its not yahoo.. Third.. the dns system rarely works.. if you change dns more than twice in 24 hours it locks up and you cant change the dns until you contact them..( and go thru the mindless tech supports ) If you get a new domain set the dns , and never change it , you might never have any problems ( until you try to change them ) Fourth .. domain locking.. i noticed no "locking" thing in the dns management , and upon checking my domain it said "unlocked" , so i called tech support and asked " how do i lock my domain " , he said " its locked , they are all locked " , i said " it say's unlocked clearly " , he says " dont worry they are all locked and can't be changed without going through a rigorous screening process ( etc ) , checks and such " so i say " well then why dont you just put "locked" on the domain instead of having it say "unlocked", he says " dont worry about it , nobody can transfer your domain ". I said " well what if I want to transfer to a diff registrar " , he gave me some long line then said he couldn't answer than and had to ask someone else , but they werent in so call back " lol |

I've registered 6 so far, Had an issue with changing the nameservers on a few. It kept saying "our records show you do not own this domain, please contact customer support. Finally after 25 tries it went through. It's a great deal but expect a few headaches.

DAMN!!!
I just reg'd 20 domains last week for $5.99 each and thought I got the deal of the year! I've used DirectNIC for a few years and got tired of paying $15 per domain. I was happy that I saved $180 on this "run" BUT could have saved another $60? LOL Timing is everything! Thanks, Lens! :thumbsup BTW - I never had a problem wit DirectNIC - love their management interface and still have 40+ domains with them :winkwink: |
Yesterday I registered a domain and I don't have any problem
|
It says 1 per customer and whois protection is an extra $10.
|
why some sites still have domains at $15 if not you can find sites at $2
i have some domain with directnic and never had problems, but $15 is too much :( |

|
that is an affordable prize for a domain/ year.
|
I have few questions ...
Tell me please if i have to buy hosting from yahoo to receive a $2.99 domain name ? If not ..... the best way is register new domains for many 5-6 years. Is it possible later to transfer them to godaddy ? Please - let me know Regards Tomud |
yahoo sucks as a registrar. use namechep instead!
|
im happy with paying $7,95 at powerpipe, never had a problem with them for over 3 years

they seem to have changed , go log into your account , you can lock yor domains now. ( but the service still is shitty , constant errors - see above) |
I'll continue to use the co I'm with. I pay $8.95, of course it's cheaper if I do a 5 or 10yr reg but I'm happy with them

Other domains for traffic funelling etc ... can go with less " serious" registrars. If you want some at $ 4.95 ( and they are pretty good up to now ): http://www.netfirms.com/domain-names/b/108 |

so you had to buy hosting there to buy domain for 5 years or no ? Regards Tomud |

That's for onesies and twosies. I pay $7.15 at Moniker, but I have 18,000 names there. Their security and customer service is exceptional. |
