Galleries that plant cookies = okay

TGP/MGP owners, are galleries that plant cookies okay?

SmokeyTheBear 10-17-2005 08:34 PM

ok, but they aren't going to grow unless you have special "cookie water". I sale it very cheap.

but seriously.. i think its kind of cheap , if your just planting one cookie , i suppose its fair, bit have seen traffic reseller's planting hudreds of cookies for sites they aren't even listing.. i think it explains some people's lower ratio's on certain program formats..

Screaming 10-17-2005 08:37 PM

ahh i need to buy some more of that cookie water please heh hahahahahah

All cookies need milk.

Not water.

I need to plant the cookie so I know which TGP sent the traffic so I can study conversion patterns

ccbill links plant them and i've never once heard of a tgp that didnt allow ccbill or any other processor because of "cookies".

Yes, but I was referring to planting small bits of info on users' browsers so we can track performance. As a TGP owner (presumably) would you have NO problem with that?

broke 10-18-2005 12:47 AM

Once people realize TGP owners are not in business to make you money... you all will do much better. Some may allow cookies. Some may not. But I can assure you none care about your ability to track performance via cookies.

Are some owners loading a page that sets cookies for numerous sites/programs to snag the join?

Nope -- that would be unheard of...

Th!nk 10-18-2005 12:56 AM

I'm just giving you favor, that's just an honest opinion.

I've seen that before... but it's not clear how that would work, I thought that most affiliate programs give credit to the last click not the first click?

VeriSexy 10-18-2005 01:11 AM

I have seen a crazy TGP owner get really mad about getting a cookie from a gallery

Maybe 1/2 of the device would be a cookie, but you'd need another part to make that happen... kinda like a cookie version of Gator (scumware that swaps out ads masquerading as a password helper)
