:wetkiss the combination of everything. i need something that will run all my basic webmaster progs, like dreamweaver and PS and icq and outlook and excel. but that wont cost me more than say 1500 to 1700 |
I have a dell..
it's nice. |
the dell w/ the 17" screen and centrino
|
I picked up a new sony vaio 460s about a month ago and I LOVE it - highly recommended. Only dropped about 1300 for it, but I had a 250 rebate. Probably cost around 1600 right now.
The new Delll xps look really good too, but hella expensive |
What ever it is it will be outdated in a month. I always buy 1 speed down from the current fastest processor and double the ram.
Last year I picked up a 2nd hand 3ghz with 1gb ram and a 256meg video card for $1500 AU ( about $1300 US ). I used to be a latest toys junkie, but its just throwing away your money, I replaced my DVD player I got with a new $199 one, my orginal DVD player cost me $3800. My first digital camera a Sony Maciva cost me about the same, the old model that took floppy disks, gave it to my sister recently.... |
tough call im kinda into dell recently
|
from the best down:
toshiba (pricey) ibm (pricey) dell (ur best bet) sony (ehh.. same as dell, but overpriced) |
hmmm, dell seems like the popular choice.
i'm gonna price one out now |

Right now Dell has a good distance on others in laptops.
The Inspiron 9300 is an amazing machine. 17" screen, great processor, good battery life, not bulky or overly heavy and looks awesome with the optional snap on color lids. If you get the extended warranty, the machine will keep a much better value as well since it's transferrable. Look for a online coupon, Dell frequently does 30% off coupons. Get the best video card available, since it's practically the only thing you can't replace. Stay minimum on the RAM and purchase it yourself, Dell charges like almost $400 for what you can buy for $200 and put it in yourself (a monkey can put in RAM). Also, you want either a 7200rpm HD or a 100+gb 5400rpm or you'll lose a good bit of performance. The only negative I can think of it's not a full sized keyboard. I like numberpads but I can do without it... |
