Watermarking should I or shouldn't
 

Was wondering how many of you watermark your images.
Is it worth doing ?

I would do it because you can very easily prove that they are your pics!

I do it not just to protect your pic but sometimes people will type in the domain on the pics.

Some do some don't, I like the url idea too Bake but someone will still crop the pic.

True but at least it takes some work for the stealer. I'm sure he prefers pics without domains on it

I do it and it makes you hits and the poeple that steal content won't steal it as fast cause for them it's easier to just take another gallery without watermarking and steal thise pics :Graucho

aussie - i presume that it is exclusive content that is for your site only? do you shoot your own?

Watermark the pics for sure!
Add your url on the pic as well, but not too large.

The more protection the better!

Actually, I gave up on watermarking after talking to a bunch of webmasters about it.

Half said it was worthwhile --- half said it wasn't, mostly because watermark tracking through Digimarc (as an example) is pretty much limited to search engines only.

(Bay TSP claims a better system but I've heard mixed opinions about that too.)

Alot of webmasters said they only found out about pirated pics mostly through word of mouth ... rather than tracking the pics through watermarking or similar means.

Plus, you have to go through all the hassle of getting the pics removed once you find them.

I put my url on all of pics AND slice them into smaller pieces. Makes it pretty miserable for any pirate to put them back together ... particularly when they have to crop out the url on top of all of that hassle.
