Greatest Band Of All Time !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steely Dan
Steely Fuckin Dan
http://mo-retsu.jp/ff/steely_dan/steely_dan.gif This is the day Of the expanding man That shape is my shade There where I used to stand It seems like only yesterday I gazed through the glass At ramblers Wild gamblers That?s all in the past You call me a fool You say it?s a crazy scheme This one?s for real I already bought the dream So useless to ask me why Throw a kiss and say goodbye I?ll make it this time I?m ready to cross that fine line Chorus: I?ll learn to work the saxophone I?ll play just what I feel Drink scotch whisky all night long And die behind the wheel They got a name for the winners in the world I want a name when I lose They call alabama the crimson tide Call me deacon blues My back to the wall A victim of laughing chance This is for me The essence of true romance Sharing the things we know and love With those of my kind Libations Sensations That stagger the mind I crawl like a viper Through these suburban streets Make love to these women Languid and bittersweet I?ll rise when the sun goes down Cover every game in town A world of my own I?ll make it my home sweet home Chorus This is the night Of the expanding the man I take one last drag As I approach the stand I cried when I wrote this song Sue me if I play too long This brother is free I?ll be what I want to be Chorus |

There is only one contender for this title, The Beatles.
|
who are these fuckers?

My favorite bands and records rotate by the day. The concept of 'The Greatest Band' is subjective and a novelty...no such thing. While some people love and swear by certain bands *cough* all metal *cough*, I can't listen to their songs for a minute without either wanting to laugh or cringe.
Regardless, Favorite Of The Day: Love - Forever Changes |

Dan Steely
» Do It Again In the mornin you go gunnin' For the man who stole your water And you fire till he is done in But they catch you at the border And the mourners are all singin' As they drag you by your feet But the hangman isn't hangin' And they put you on the street CHORUS: You go back Jack do it again Wheel turnin' 'round and 'round You go back Jack do it again When you know she's no high climber Then you find your only friend In a room with your two timer And you're sure you're near the end Then you love a little wild one And she brings you only sorrow All the time you know she's smilin' You'll be on your knees tomorrow CHORUS Now you swear and kick and beg us That you're not a gamblin' man Then you find you're back in Vegas With a handle in your hand Your black cards can make you money So you hide them when you're able In the land of milk and honey You must put them on the table CHORUS |
Steely Dan is awesome, but there are really not one of the contenders for the title, based on their importance in the history of Rock and Roll, and what they did:
My picks: The Beatles - The band that showed the USA that the rest of the world could rock Ramones - Invented Punk Rock before it was called that. It would be hard to find any rock band formed after 1985 that didn't have some influence from Ramones... Nirvana - Taught everyone to remember what Rock was supposed to be Deep Purple - A strange pick maybe, but they were the first heavy metal band and were playing it 40 years ago before it was even called Heavy Metal (The name came from Steppenwolf...). The Yardbirds - The band that introduced the world to Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page |
It's gotta be... Led Zepplin
The Beatles may have been "bigger" but the "greatest" band... Led Zepplin. |
If we're talking bands that had everything? Like it's been mentioned, there has never been a band that epitomized rock and roll like Led Zeppelin. Plant had sex appeal and the whole "mystical" lead singer thing going on. Jimmy page did things on the guitar that had been unheard of. They partied like it was their last day on earth and their songs were just...unreal. Zep hands down is the best rock band ever. Noone else even comes close to doing what they did.

hey, led zepplin was fuckin awesome...no doubt about it.. but theres no greatest band of all time... |
By "greatest" are we talking album sales, live in concert, longevity, most hits, influence, prolific...?
"Greatest" is subjective. Every generation has its own standards by which greatness is judged. SilentKnight www.kastlearchives.com www.chamberofchains.com www.fetishopolis.com |
saw Judas Priest last night,
They can still really put on a show. |
Queensryche.
Led Zeppelin. |
Led Zeppelin
|
Of all time?..... I'd have to give the nod to the Beatles.
But any top list would have to include: Led Zepellin The Who Pink Floyd The Stones Rush Van Halen Aerosmith Deep Purple Eagles |
look, the answer to that question is taking your pick from those below, and only those:
Led Zepplin The Rolling Stones Pink Floyd The Beatles ************ if you're going on longevity and compiling a hitlist, try compiling one of the Rolling Stones.......lol.........your playlist will literally be over a 100 songs |

Your everlasting summer
You can see it fading fast So you grab a piece of something That you think is gonna last You wouldn?t know a diamond If you held it in your hand The things you think are precious I can?t understand Chorus: Are you reelin? in the years Stowin? away the time Are you gatherin? up the tears Have you had enough of mine You been tellin? me you?re a genius Since you were seventeen In all the time I?ve known you I still don?t know what you mean The weekend at the college Didn?t turn out like you planned The things that pass for knowledge I can?t understand Chorus I spend a lot of money And I spent a lot of time The trip we made in hollywood Is etched upon my mind After all the things we?ve done and seen You find another man The things you think are useless I can?t understand Chorus |
