Picture of the Sun setting over the pacific (pic)

Saw this coming tonight as we were driving over the hill into Newport Beach.

Thought I would stop.

Canon 20D.

I used a 70-200 Canon 2.8. I zoomed in and underexposed to make the sun look large.

I only wish I would have been on the beach for it, I didn't think I would make it though. Would have looked a hell of a lot better!

I'm thinking about picking something up to get started on ...maybe take a class or two and just learn from reading and lots of shooting till i get it right.

I was thinking about the Nikon D50 they say it's a bit easer to use then the D70 ... what do you think ?

I'll be back in a few years, I'm currently 'surrendering to the desert' ... I'll just have to learn to appreciate the beauty that is here, I DO love the summer thunder & lightening storms...

If you are already sold on Nikon, then no question the D70 in my opinion.

I would maintain however that for just a few hundred extra, the Canon 20D is the best on the market. D70 is 3 frames per second, 20D is 5.

I have used the D70 numerous times and it is an excellent camera.

Classes? Hit me up sometime, there are plenty of outstanding books out there that would likely get you going if you are patient in reading them. Classes are good, but what I have found is they focus way to much on the auto and semi-auto functions, whereas books written by professionals focus on Manual (which you should learn to shoot in). Plus, they are specific...Manual for models, landscapes, low-light, sports...etc...

Hit me up if you have any questions. BTW, my girl and I are looking to plan a trip to New York City sometime after January, it would be great to get together.

How close are you to Manhattan?

We will be able to do brunch on November 18th, Friday. We have a 24 hour layover.
