What is with the recent trend with every one getting tats?

I'm thinking that my brother thread may have started this .... he just got his first and he's 36 ... I've been posting a lot of work I'm having done .. but i got my first when i was 19 ..i'm 30 now. before I started to do the arm piece I'm working on now I had 5 that i got when i was in my early 20's ... including one inside my lip ... it's nothing new for me ..i've just been sharing it lately .. :)

I love looking at everybodies tats!!!! and alot of them are way cool!!!.... But

I'll never get one. I don't wanna be one of them assholes that has to explain a childish tattoo when I'm older, LMFAO!

I will never get tats. I change my mind too much. I pierced my eyebrow instead. My hair usually covers it and I can just take it out when I get sick of it.

Just cause your mommy wont let you get one you shouldnt be hating on us.

I wanted a tat at 16. My parents would not allow it. I'm glad because I would have put some something stupid I'm sure.

As I grew older I still wanted one but didn't want to just pick one off the wall. I knew that when the time was right, I would get one.

Last year I was in Bangkok... 16 years later... I woke up one morning and the only thing on my mind was "today is the day" and I rolled with it. I knew the image I wanted, I knew how big, I knew exactly what I wanted, so I pulled the trigger and found the right artist that had the same vision I did and together we drew up what it was going to be.

My first sitting was a little over 8 ours of needle work. 3 months later I sat for 2 more hours for some touch ups. It's still not complete but the biggest dilemma now is to leave it as (shadow style) is or to color it. One day I'm sure I will wake up and know.

I'm 35 and I'll get my first one soon

at 40 I'll buy 6 heavy gold chains and I'll wear them complimented with an open shirt from which my chest hair will beatifully stick out

they want to be cool and fit in.

I got my first and only tattoo when I was 7.

I was going to get one on my 25th birthday, but the guy I was going to have do it was off that day, so I took it as a sign.

I will try again on my 75th birthday

I do believe that a tattoo is also an art and I think these people (particularly those middle age ones) just want to express their aesthetic side when they decided to have these tattoos as well.

why be ashamed of it?

you obviously did it for the wrong reasons, you're ashamed of it and you force yourself to conform to whats considered 'normal' by hiding it or wanting to take it out.

be yourself, fuck the masses.
