Furious_Male 10-15-2005 08:39 AM

It took me around 30 days. I remember I used to have it as a banner on my cell phone. "$100 a day", then "$300 a day" etc. etc. for motivation.

I still feel happy to hit that mark, and on some days, I don't. :9

Took me a whole year just to make a PPS sale. But I stuck to it and dedicated myself. Even today I do ok, but not well and I am still here. I know I can be what I want to be and move to heights in this biz that I may have earlier thought impossible... I am still here.

BeatingSkull 10-15-2005 11:31 AM

I just got back into the game a little under a month ago. Spent money, havent made any of it back yet.
Last go around with this biz, back in summer of 2000 -spring 2002 took almost 2 months to make that first sale. $100 per day? If i could do that in this biz, i wouldnt be working 40 hours at the office. If i can achieve at minimum $500 per week in this biz, i would love to leave my real job, but that can only done if i feel that i could maintain monetary consistency.

Wow, that's quite some. I would've given up after 2 weeks and tried promoting something else.

I don't give up. Giving up is for pussies. :2 cents:

llporter 10-15-2005 11:54 AM

wtf kind of thread is this. Bunch of fucking whiners complaining they can even make the minimum. Spend less time on GFY and more time on your galleries and freesites!

Try my sig and you'll be doing $100 a day in 3 weeks if you know how to write good sales text for your galleries and free sites. If not then sit behind that desk for 40hrs a week and get used to kissing your bosses ass.

V_RocKs 10-15-2005 12:00 PM

Took me about a year to do $100 average. Then I figured this can actually become my job and in another year I was averaging $250 a day... Now I am looking to try and hit 10K a month within the next month or two.

Meloman 10-15-2005 12:34 PM

I got into this back in July '98. That first month I made $50 but spent $100 in bandwith so I freaked out and didn't do shit the following month (I was still a poor college kid at the time). So the following month I made like $100 but it only cost $50 in bandwith. Then the light bulb went on and I realized what I was doing wrong. The following month (3rd month) I made $1400+, then $2400+, then $4K+ and I haven't looked back since... Back then it all started with less than 10 basic 30 picture AVS sites, lol.

Can you imagine making $4K+ monthly with just a dozen basic free/avs sites with BARELY any traffic, lol.

Of course it was a piece of cake back then... times have changed.

Not sure if you are being philosophical or you mean as opposed to "traffic generation", "long term contracts", "networking", etc. If that's the case yes money is my central focus in this business. Examining ROI on the campaigns I run is what I do full time.

Outside the business my family and health come first.

Babagirls 10-15-2005 12:49 PM

i love these "how long.." threads lol everyone is different: depends on what you're doing, how many hours a day, how many days per week.

Wolfy 10-15-2005 12:50 PM

it took me two years to hit $100 a day, but I didn't even understand how to send an email on day one.

butterflybucks 10-15-2005 01:01 PM

Mt first 'hardcore' site launched 5 years ago and I was making an easy $400 a day the first few months. Then rebills kicked in, and I finally got some tips on marketing and I doubled that!

Donners 10-15-2005 01:39 PM

a week into submitting freesites

adultchica 10-15-2005 02:01 PM

After 2 years, I'm finally averaging $75-$125 a day. I could be making more but I haven't been doing as much work as I should. I know I need to make more free sites and galleries and make some new sites but I've got my hands full with the ones I already have. I need to get on the ball though. I know I can double what I make, but I have to take it one step at a time.

Webby 10-15-2005 02:40 PM

Sheesh.. there seems to be some very prolonged timescales here for earning...

Can't say I noticed the time it took to earn $100/day in "adult" revenue - just would not have counted that. Think it took approximately three months to be earning over $30K/month - tho a month or so more for the cashflow to kick in on this. Several "sub projects" were earning from around $15000 - $60000+ /month within the first year. Ded servers cost $4k/month or more at that time - about $6K with a Class C block.

Rarely dealt with "sponsors" as we know em today, with the exception of a handful I'd met face to face. Oddly these folks are still around and probably among the most stable on the net.

I love these "I'm so rich now, but when I used to have to work, I did 5 minutes a day, sometimes 6 in order to make $1000 a day. I'm glad I make so much more now." threads.

adultchica 10-15-2005 02:45 PM

I agree with you Webby. I should have been making that a lot sooner but I took my sweet ass time in making new sites, when I should have been trying my ass off. My main problem was not having the money to invest.............

I just started REALLY TRYING to make new sites and work full time 6 months ago....and I have seen my income steadily go up. My problem is I don't have thousands and thousands of dollars on hand to open up a paysite or to invest in advertising and making new sites..........People with lots of money to invest are ALwAYS going to make their money fast. Whereas I had to start with about 40 bucks!

Oddly. tho that was decades before net days, I remember first thinking - and it hit me like a brick, - the best thing I could do is "do my own thing" and at that time all I had was $160! :winkwink: I worked for another company at that time (the only company I've ever worked for) and in the background "worked" that original $160 in a small part time biz till it was enough to live on, - then went on my own and never looked back.

I've never actually borrowed money for a biz, but probably saved a lot of hassle and cost by doing this and, in a way, it's the "acid test" if a biz is sustainable/viable if it can generate it's own revenue.

The opportinity on the net is now amazing - ie the concept that you can work from home or even travel or locate yourself anywhere in the world and still earn :-) It took me.. less than a year to realize there was no point in living at home and paying taxes that would buy a few homes - so moved to locations more "friendly" to doing biz.

Tho we still.. often thru habit, spend loads of hours on net stuff - often it is very simple things, ie a "sub niche" of something, that can earn without the need for lots of time. The other part is innovation.. - there are elements, some may already exist, - but by combining "rehashing" them - you have a new concept/presentation. Even if nine out of ten of these fail - the one that does succeed earns revenue more than enough to cover any failures.

Bottom line... it's all about "heads thru the door" - traffic. You could make one HTML page with linkage - throw 100K traffic at that and it will earn. Throw 1mill traffic and it will earn more. The content on the page is obviously meaningful, but the simple basic prinicple still applies. This does not need five dedicated servers, paysites or loadsa money :)

PS.. There is no money in porn :winkwink:

Exactly.

In porn it took me a few weeks, I was selling photos via mail order and surprised at the response. On the Internet the first month we sold $600, second $3,000 and third $6,000 since then it has climbed steadily.

The paysite has always done over $100 a day from the beginning.

Problem I see is that many follow the same pattern, looking for the sponsor who pays the biggest %, does the most for them and gives the most freebies. Then find they are promoting the same site 2000 others guys are and wonder why they are not making money.

btw, I do less than $100 a week, could you wealthy guys lend me some dosh? :(

biskoppen 10-16-2005 12:57 AM

I'm at $99 pr day now - been here for 19 years...

(Planning on spending more than $99 a day next year, so I can get to see the real nasty stuff too)

Greg B 10-16-2005 01:28 AM

I'm not going to say how much I make with my site because it would piss some people off royally.

I did the site as a protest and it startled me that it started actually making money! I was with another AVS at the time and my overhead was a pack of cigs, a six pack of Mountain Dew and an art pad. I did this part-part time too. I don't pay for traffic. I've never, ever met a traffic broker worth a shit. No ppc from the search engines either. Just word of mouth. I've found however that making galleries is a huge difference! Some of you TGP MGP and TGP2 owners really, really know what the fuck you are doing.

What's ironic is I started out coloring my art by hand with pencils, water color etc. because way back when the software programs didn't have what it took. Then Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro etc. came along. Worked fine, but now the programs are actually 10 times slower than me hand coloring! So it's back to basics again.

I was just sitting here this week looking at how much money and influence one site can do even if it's not in the top ten page of the search engines. I experimented with a paysite and revenue program and it took off. I plan on launching a new one soon.

So making money is not a problem. It's never been a problem. The problem is either waiting for technology to catch up to you or you catching up to the technology. If I started an affiliate program I would be able to buy a Lambourghini in different colors for each day of the week.

Sure I could go back to slaving for some comic book company making $2k a month or working for some animation company making $50k per year before taxes and union dues which would knock that down to $$25k per year working 18 hours a day for some chemically dependent gay psychiatric patient producer but NFW!

So each case is different. I'm not swimming in loot but I can count on it coming in. Believe it or not this business is more stable than mainstream news, comics, animation. It's really freakin' weird but I understand why.

I've seen many a pornmeister come and go. I've seen young guys make a fortune and blow it all on chicks and gambling and other dumb shit.

It's not how much you make a day, it's how much you can bank and count on.

ModelPerfect 10-16-2005 01:40 AM

Back in '97 it was really really freakin' easy, but not anymore. Now you actually have to work hard.

cspdinc 10-16-2005 02:01 AM

about 2 hours the first day. But there are days when ccbill seems to be out to lunch... so to say. then others like - wow....
