Best way to capture HD Video?
 

I bought an hd camera, but cant seem to be able able to capture anything from it. lol

can someone help a feller out?

you need a video capture card and software thats HD compatible

i got an hd capture card....

I tried using windows media endcoder 9, supposedly, it was supposed to capture it, but I cant get that option to work for me.

Im not sure about WME being used to capture, as I only use it as a plug in for Premiere. I'd say if you gonna go all out and use HD, you need to get pro/semi-pro software to eidt/capture with. Get a copy of Avid, Premiere or Vegas.

Yea, thats about where Im at right now. I was wondering if anyone else used windows movie maker or encoder 9 to capture HD Video.

I have been checking out some of the software solutions....just wanted to see if there was a cheaper option to capture it.

I even went out and bought an i.link cable today (4pin) to (4pin).....

but encoder 9 and movie maker 9, wont recognize the signal from my HD cam.

TIP: Alot of tricks to HD and ya can not use an ATARI console as a work station.

He probably think that you somehow singe out connector on your cam...
That happens often with DV cams and "bad" firewire cards.

Of course I don't know what is the reason...
Please tell me, when you put camera on play and connect with your comp, did you get any message similar to "New hardware found" or something like that?

you can get it even from ussual miniDV cam

i use ulead media studio pro 8 to capture from the cam and for editing - but this is not the best way since scene detection doesn't work with the sony cam. i will now try premiere pro with hd plugin. i was told that should do it

Your shooting HD and your using Windows Movie Maker??? Umm ok. Maybe its time to buck up and buy a real editing workstation and software

Storm card and Premier Pro + HD plugin is perfect.

Personally we use the Sony HVR-M10U hooked up via firewire to our editing machine, and captured via Vegas video..

We shoot all of our girls in HD since April of this year.

i see there is the Edius NX card now - might wanna get one of those. but that thingy costs $2K just for the card :disgust
