I know the difference between Free Hosts and Pay Hosts.

But other than that, there isn't any other difference.

yup, they all have the same hardware, use the same bw. also the same tech support. lol.

When it comes to infrastructure, companies can only purchase their connectivity from a limited number of companies - so yeah, there are definitely fewer choices, which means a lot of companies use bandwidth from the same place.

Ultimately, it comes down to:

a) what the company does with this bandwidth [do they buy multiple redundant connections, or just buy one and hope it doesn't go down?]

b) what the company does with the hardware connected to the bandwidth [are machines properly configured? how many accounts on one server? etc. etc.]

c) value-added services to complement their bandwidth: security, support, etc. Lotsa companies offer tons of stuff, some don't offer anything.

There are a lot of differences, I only use ones that meet the standards to be on GFY Recommends.

I second that motion - they're the most kickass host I've ever had! (before that I was with LikeWhoa - WHICH SUCKED!)

Hosting companies are ALMOST all the same. Once you've been in the business for a few years you do realize though it is important to find one of those $24.99/month "unlimited BW" plans.

WHEWEEE the money you will save. Need any recommendations?
