HOUSTON -- A Houston store clerk could face up to a year in prison because of the provocative items being sold on a north Houston store's shelves. Houston police charged Jose Escalante with obscenity because he was in possession of adult toys with the intent to promote and sell them. If convicted, Escalante could face up to a year in prison and a $4,000 fine. Escalante is an employee of the Adult Video Megaplex location on Interstate 45 in north Houston. The store sells items that are considered obscene because they are designed to be used in a sexual act. |
If I remember correctly, in the state of Texas it is against the law to be in possession of more than 5 sex toys. I seem to recall a woman getting busted last year. She was doing "sex toy parties" in peoples houses and someone complained.

I sure hope things change in the new millenium. Maybe if we are all good and say are prayers they will find a cure for polio. |
My mistake...they can only be sold as novelties. Not as sexual toys.

Obscenity enforcement on the local level is nothing new. There are dozens of cases each year.
