LCD or Plasma
Have looked online at a few articles that discuss the pros and cons of the two different technologies but am looking for real world user suggestions on what technology to harness for home entertainment purposes.
I'd also be interested in finding out what makes and models people suggest. I'm in the market for a 37" or 42" so with that in mind, please feel free to share your views with me. Cheers ... |
got 42' panasonic plasma and I am quite happy with that.Anyway some movies allows you to see that plasma is not so "fast" - can see some shadows during the fights in matrix - saw that yesterday so this thread reminds me ...

my buddy had a plasma that burned from playing games, maybe it was a fluke, but I would buy the LCD
|
The burning and ghosting are things I am concerned about, which is why I am currently favouring the LCD. Another reason is the longer life on LCD vs Plasma.

I have 2 42" plasmas and a 50"
I also have an LCD tv. I would take plasma any day because I think the brightness and overall picture looks better |

Plasma's have really come down in price in the past 3 months. Can pick up a real nice 42" for Ģ1000 nowadays. |

DLP, LCD, PLASMA in that order.
|

|
I'm in the market for a 50inch plasma also what are the best ones out there? i hear the pioneer and panasonic are the best 50inchers right now.. any opinions?

I have a panasonic monster and itīs quality is great. We tested also some more in a media shop but I didnīt like this visible pixels that I could see mostly at all the other plasmas. Panasonic seems to be the best quality.

Regular old tv looks a little crappy tho when you get used to HD |
I would go with plasma
|
If you visit you local Circuit City or similar store you can see for your self I favor LCD above the short lived Plasma. The color is better the image sharper and the viewing angle greater (170 degrees). LCD's have a far greater life than Plasma screens. The only downside is the price and size, LCD's are just getting to the 50 inch size and the cost is higher than the equivalent Plasma.
Bottom line take a trip to your local store and see which picture quality you like the best! |

A plasma looks better hands down, the blacks, grays and skin tones are way better. You don't really notice these things unless you view the two side by side, then the LCD's faults are obvious. If you play a ton of games and are in a dark room sitting in front then an LCD is fine. If you are in a room with allot light, and have people viewing at angels, then Plasma is the way to go. Also the new sets do not have the burn in issues like the old ones, |
50"
This is my setup, 50" LG they run about 4k now.
My room is large and I have a ton of natural light, so a plasma was the right choice for me, keep the room and conditions in mind before buying. http://forums.crissymoran.com/images/plasma.jpg |
That LG looks pretty sweet, nice setup!

i just ordered the Philips 42PF9830 which looks very promising. A 42" LCD with Ambilight 2 and Pixel Plus 2 HD. The newest model from philips in the lcd line
