1 out of 10 sexually active people have Chlamydia

1 in 10 sexually active people under the age of 25 have Chlamydia. How many of you that are under 25 have ever been tested for it and those of us over 25 were you ever tested at all during those years?

GoBig 10-12-2005 01:11 PM

usually because people either don't finish their antibiotics,

or (with couples) only one of them get medicine because they are afraid to tell their partner... so they get reinfected, from their partner.

or because people are whores and just don't give a fuck.

But yeah... it's definitely out there.

Another funny thing is alot of these couples spending $$$$$$ to fertility clinics for miracle babies could save themselves a lot of money and headaches if they would just both take a round of antibiotics before trying to conceive.

Apparently chlamydia prevents conception and for some $illy reason isn't screened for by the fertility clinics? At least thats what my friend said who paid about $20k for his miracle baby.

Doesn't mean you and your wife don't have chlamydia.

"Chlamydia is symptomless in 75 percent of cases among women and 25 percent among men."

billywatson 10-12-2005 01:23 PM

I got it in, like, 1985. It's so common on college campuses that I bet 1 in 5 have it...mainly cause, for guys especially, there's no symptoms.

DWB 10-12-2005 01:42 PM

Take 500mg of zithromax every month and don't worry about it.

WebairGerard 10-12-2005 01:54 PM

jono 10-12-2005 01:56 PM

Damn. Not good stats!

davecummings 10-12-2005 02:31 PM

Every Month!

We talent folks get a DNA test for it (and HIV and GC, too) every month; in 11 years of performing, I've never tested positive for anything (but was on a "Quarantine" list for having worked with a girl once who unknowingly had it---once on such a list, I had to get an update test before I could again "work with" anyone. It's not a fool-proof system, but I feel relatively safe relying on required testing, especially relative to bar "pick-ups"!

fris 10-12-2005 02:32 PM

Marshal 10-12-2005 06:43 PM

but it's better to use condoms...

Dave,
I respect your enormous contribution to the industry but I gotta call BS on this one. I have heard this same story from one too many male performers and statistically it has to just be impossible that all you guys NEVER catch anything. If you personally have not, the Gods of luck are on your side and nobody else's.

The mandatory tests for G & C are fairly new. Prior to them, I find it impossible to believe that a LOT of people in this business didn't have the drip at one time or another. It's a numbers game.
