Why not just add lime in with the Corona?

Like they do with Diet coke, Sprite and dishwasher soap.
Everyone puts a lime in their Corona.

Wouldn't that make life so much easier?

Sorry, my rant of the night.

CyberAgeGary 10-11-2005 11:01 PM

That's a good idea dave,

Why don't you call those people up in Mexico and tell them to jump on that idea?

Because the manufacturer knows it's not a big deal for someone to grab a lime while the customer is getting pineapple for their pizza ;)

Anthony 10-11-2005 11:11 PM

Because the original use of the lime wasn't for taste, it was to keep the flies off the lip of the beer.

High Quality 10-11-2005 11:13 PM

Why would anyone drink corona to begin with?

EviLGuY 10-11-2005 11:14 PM

It might affect the shelf life or cause other problems if they just dropped something that acidic into it and let it sit for a while.

I don't know why people drink Corona anyways. It's so bland.

Azlord 10-11-2005 11:55 PM

So that's how they came up with the Spanish Flies. They were just drunk Flies. That's solves it, but how do you explain the worms in the Tequila?

Some don't like it in their coke, but they give you the option.

nofx 10-12-2005 12:06 AM

mmm....I love those little chunks of lime in the corona...makes it so fucking delicious

Pretty_Lara 10-12-2005 02:02 AM

the matter is acids influence on taste changes during its storage period. difference in between coke and other soft drinks and beer - is yeast. you can't combine acids with yaest.
I also like beer with lime, strange but tasty..

DutchTeenCash 10-12-2005 02:03 AM

yeah or add water to whiskey already... right

why the fuck would you use a lime to keep flies off and not the fucking bottle cap that comes with the beer and actually covers the top?

Turf 10-12-2005 02:23 AM

well someone enjoys a lemon in their corona more than a lime :)

Ace-wtf 10-12-2005 02:27 AM

the original use was for the taste!
sun light causes a chemical reaction in beer -> result: your beer starts to taste like piss.
Since corona comes in clear bottles (other beers come in brown or green bottles that keep some of the light out), they started putting lime in the neck of the bottle of disguise the piss-taste.

mexicans did not start putting lime in corona for taste.

it is to kjeep flies off the lip of your bottle. you ever sit in the hot desert and sip a beer? flies land on your beer mouth and its not cool, flies keep it off. simple but true.

having lived in this mexican desert for 7+ years now, its the truth.

white people started drinking corona and think lime is for taste.

its pretty dumb actually its trend and nothing more.

i live in a very mexican speaking area and the above is fact.

It's a bit of a mystery how a wedge of lime became standard equipment with Mexican beer. I've read that it's a Mexican tradition originating in the need to clean dust off - or keep flies out - of the mouth of the can. I've also read that it started as a marketing gimmick, and only tourists in Mexico drink their beer with lime.
http://www.azcentral.com/arizonarepu...rbuzz0504.html

lime is not used in QUALITY MEXICAN BEER also.

Rebecca Love 10-12-2005 07:45 AM

I use a lemon. So I would be pissed if they add lime!

Funbrunette 10-12-2005 07:48 AM

I could go for an ice cold Corona right about now! :thumbsup

jacked 10-12-2005 07:50 AM

tequiza is just like a corona with a lime in it...

Peaches 10-12-2005 07:51 AM

My friends (I don't drink beer) add lemon flavored rum to their Coronas :)

EroticySteve 10-12-2005 07:54 AM

Not that I keep tabs of the habits of others ethnicities, but I usually see the Hispanics around here buy Budweiser. I don't think I've seen many drink Corona.

I once stuck a corona bottle..... in bandcamp

JUSTB 10-12-2005 08:08 AM

I don't always like lime in it. Sometimes I like it plain.

HorseShit 10-12-2005 09:02 AM

I don't doubt that is how it got started.

I live north of Seattle, which can't be confused with a desert, where my family ownes a grocery store where I worked for many years. All the Mexicans, both locals and migrant workers, always buy limes to go with their Corona.

Bud Light and Bud are their everyday beers with Corona being reserved for special occasions.

webair 10-12-2005 09:22 AM

fresher when you put that nice lime in it and it gets the lime thingies on bottle umm umm
