can spiders & robots read encypted pages
 
i encrypted a page & was wondering if spiders used for indexing a page can read it? also, alot of sites have a robot check site for recip linkback & i'm concerned the bot cant read encrypted pages.

It depends on what you mean by encryption.

I don't think Bots spend the time

If you make it hard for them they just move on. many more pages to chooses from

It also depends on what sort of encryption you are using. in the end a page must be readable by the webbrowser so anything that wants to decrypt it can

Of course if you don't want any one to read it don't put it on the web.

More specialised spiders may take the time to decrypt a page, spiders that specialise in copyright detection, they want to know if you have stolen content so they may work a lot more diligently

I wouldn't count on encrypting a page to save you from the law.
