toolbars are stealing your money!!!!!!!!!!

can somebody help me & tell me the code to put on my sites to stop adblockers from blocking ads on my sites.

i also need a way to block or disable toolbars. I found out that many toolbars are removing affiliate link codes & replacing them with their own. These toolbars are stealing your money!!!!!!!!!!

alrighty.

the surfers with adblockers can be redirected with mod rewrite with this code;

# block offline browsers
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Offline* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^WebZIP* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^WebReaper* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Anarchie* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Mass\ Down* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Slurp* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^BlackWidow* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^WebStripper* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Wget* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^WebHook* [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^Teleport*
# adblocking software
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*Ad.*Muncher.*v4.*.* [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*NetCaptor.* [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*WebWasher.* [NC]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} ^.*adsubtract.*$ [NC,OR]
# Send leeches to denied page
RewriteRule ^.*$ /docs/robots_denied.html [L]

now, the main thing is that pesky thief called toolbars!! i'm off to look for a way to disable it when visitors go to my sites..

Look up scumware & stealware. That's what does a lot of the covert affiliate hijacking. Howabout putting links to adaware on your site for a true free download that could allow some of the bookmarkers to get rid of it at least ...

you're going to manipulate someones browser, then expect them to click your ads?

i dont want the toolbar changing the link code. there's got to be a way to block it from doing so, without affecting the surfers settings. I dont intend to change surfer/browser settings, but am looking for a way to make sure these scumware/stealware cant hijack my sales.

i can see the toolbar thing...that's pretty fucked up.

but you mentioned bypassing adblockers too.. which might piss someone off.. even if they are freeloaders.. forcing ads on them probably ain't gonna make a customer out of them.

the redirection you posted might be a better idea...
I use an adblocker..don't think i've ever been redirected because of it..
would be fun to see.

well, i jumped the gun a bit. i was looking at a script site & saw an ad for a script about blocking ad blockers, so thought ad blockers block all ads, but they dont. I just googled & did some quick reading. the adblockers only block popups & such. I thought if a surfer using it visiting my site wouldnt see the banners & image/html ads. totally misunderstood.

anyway, i figured a way to stop the toolbar/scumware/stealware etc.. things like toptext.

html encryption. The scumware dont work on encrypted pages because they cant read the keyword & code

i never used an adblocker cuz you can block them anyway with XP

here's another idea, promote sites without heavy brand awareness yet, unsaturated good stuff. We loose approx. 30% of sales when we can't co-brand or re-brand. I bet you only loose 1% of sales due to stealware.

TheMob 10-09-2005 08:29 PM

dude, you think about that shit way too much. put your energy in to generating more traffic instead of worrying about the few that block your ads.

darnit 10-09-2005 09:01 PM

It would be a good idea to redirect that traffic to a adware/scumware removal program page that informs the surfer they are infected. Webroot has a good affiliate program. That way you make money and the surfers get a clean machine = more sales, less affiliate code jacking.

Everyone wins
