Canon 20D

What lenses would you recommend for Canon 20D? What are your experiences/opinions about this camera?

AlienQ - BANNED FOR LIFE 10-09-2005 01:56 PM

Sigma's.
But why the 20D?

You can get the 350D and do the crack ultimatly making it a 20D saving some 500 bucks.

depends on the type of photography

it's a great camera, I love it

tornell 10-09-2005 01:59 PM

nope - depends on whether you want to take just some pics or shoot professionally. the mechanics of the 20D are made for about 200.000 pics - the 350D is a consumer cam for 30.000 pics. so at the end the 350D can be more expensive.

and for the lens i would go for the Canon 24-70 2.8 usm - it's expensive but worth it. just the new 24-100 lens that comes with the new 5D sounds tempting too

There is a new crack out for 350D now? Do you happen to have the link handy?

Any Canon "L" lens. I use this site a lot to compare lens before purchase Photodo

acctman 10-09-2005 02:46 PM

this is the setup i currently have with my 20D Velbron Ultra Luxif tripod, Canon Auto 50mm lens for close up portaits, canon 28-135mm great all around lens and it's not all that big/heavy and the canon 580ex flash. Also get UV filters for all your lens it'll protect them from scratchs also hoods too for those sunny days.

Canon - 28-135mm F/3.5-5.6 IS USM EF Lens = Excellent

Red Ezra 10-09-2005 11:39 PM

great cam - 24-70mm 2.8?

FelixFlow 10-10-2005 12:16 AM

i used to have the 28-135, cost is about $400 and a nice little lens for the money

but if you want mind-blowing fucking glass, get the 24-70 2.8 "L"...it'll run you about $1,200 but it's worth every penny !!!

then, compliment that with the 70-200 2.8 "L" and you've got a great 1-2 combination for most any model shooting situation! :)

true dat

i found the 28-135 nice, but it had problems with sharpness when used in full length - the 24-70 is overall unbeatable

That's the primary lens I use on my 20D. Good stuff.

Shot these pics with it tonight.

Sigma lenses are not so good.
Best lenses are all lenses by Canon with "L".
I really like 70-200 2,8 L IS USM and 16-35 2,8 L

Too dark lens. You can't do anything at 135mm if it's not a sunny day (or if you don't use a 800ISO)

I like them too, very nice lens.

Canon 20D has also amazing improving in quality of shooting with high ISO numbers.

Tim 10-10-2005 08:49 AM

I have yet to master mine properly but it's damn good.

mackey 10-10-2005 09:30 AM

Sell the 20D, get a 5D and a few nice L and 2.8 lenses and stay away from Sigma crap.
