Steven Seagal began training karate at the age of 7 under Fumio Demura, and later began practising aikido in the late 1960s at the Orange County Aikikai in California under Harry Ishisaka.
Seagal Sensei received his 1st Dan from Koichi Tohei in Orange County in the summer of 1974 and traveled to Japan shortly thereafter at the tender age of 19. they are both good at karate, but Seagal is 7th dan in aikido its definitly a plus...and even though some persons consider aikido to be a hippie martial art...its not like he took 2 lessons between an acid an a blunt....he's 7th dan so I guess he's kinda good at it

He came out with all the blags and bullshit when he first got famous and tried to live up to it. It's all been proven to be lies.
He was in Japan teaching English. He took classes like everyone else and became good at martial arts. He was never a master or anything special.
He's never worked for the goverment unless it was as an informer.
The guy is clearly an asshole.

Van Damme is a guy that was good at Karate and wanted to be an action hero. Made a couple of good films early on. He got into the celeb lifestyle and hooked on coke. Now he's just a fuck up.


Seriously though. If you read up on Seagal it's funny stuff. They could make a great comedy out of his life story.

If we were real lucky they would kill each other off and we wouldnt have to see anymore bad martial arts movies from them. Both have been challenged openly by the martial arts community to fight some of the master of the same level they say they are at. And neither have ever taken any of the challenges, why you ask?? Because they are not as good as they say they are or brag to be. Steven Segal and Van Dam are the laughing stock of the martial arts community, they just happen to make alot of $$$ using their martial arts background in Hollywood.

The only people who knew how to fight were Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris who was Bruce Lee's student.
