My Wisdom is Gone

Just got back from getting my 4 wisdom teeth extracted. My god, that was extremely painful. This one (impacted) tooth would not come out and with even 15 shots of the needle (local anesthetic), my nerves were still there during the operation. Added with all the gagging reflex during the extraction, this was one hell of a brutal operation! Alas, after a lot of codeine, tylenol 3's and other hefty drugs, I am now feeling much much better.

Having my 4 Wisdom teeth pulled was GREAT.

They were bad too, cracked etc.

They stuck a needle in my arm and I was out cold.

A needle never even went towards my mouth.

I woke up 30 min later and I was HIGH as a kite.

I didn't feel a thing. I felt Great when I woke up.

Even after, the pills they gave me...I NEVER felt a thing.

I would do it again tomorrow!

:)

Advanced Intellect 10-07-2005 11:03 AM

You should have seen an oral surgeon.

They should have knocked you out.

Nicky 10-07-2005 11:03 AM

you should have asked for nos man :upsidedow

seriousley, give your busines to me, dont listen to that guy above.... :)

wdsguy 10-07-2005 11:04 AM

You will look like a chipmunk for a few days but u will be fine. I guess your other option would have been to go under the gas.

FreeHugeMovies 10-07-2005 11:05 AM

The earlier you get them removed the quicker your recovery is. I've had a total of 4 wisdom and 12 baby teeth removed.

pornguy 10-07-2005 11:05 AM

Should have mentioned. it is best to be put to sleep for this.

Mutt 10-07-2005 11:06 AM

i'm jealous of anybody with a prescription for percocet.

pradaboy 10-07-2005 11:08 AM

Ah damn, I hope I'll never have to experience having my wisdom teeth pulled.

Don't take too many of those codine and pass out, you will most likely choke on your own blood.

SilentKnight 10-07-2005 11:09 AM

I had 29 extractions done in one two-hour operation about three years ago. I found the best thing that helped was keeping a cold compress on my jaw, had NO bruising or swelling whatsoever. Hurt like a sonuvabitch for about two weeks, though. But at least I didn't end up with chipmunk syndrome.

Oh, and one thing they don't tell ya' before the procedure - later when you're enjoyin' all your meals through a straw...be sure to include fibre somehow. Trust me, hahahaha

29 teeth pulled at once? ummm....why?

GTS Mark 10-07-2005 11:15 AM

Enjoy the drugs buddy! You should have gone right out, that is what I opted for when I got my wisdom teeth removed. Fuck morphine is great!

sicone 10-07-2005 11:17 AM

Jimbo 10-07-2005 11:18 AM

I inherited my old man's soft teeth genes I guess. Always had major probs with`em all my life. He had his taken out in his 20s. At least mine last till nearly my 40s.

I made the decision one night after going almost 72 hours with no sleep during a wicked infection. Said fuckit - they're comin' out!

Never regretted it.

StuartD 10-07-2005 11:22 AM

I had one tooth grow so long that it was up into my sinus'... caused a migraine for a year solid. Nothing would kill the pain.

Finally when I had it pulled out of my skull, it was done without any needles/freezing.

Believe me, when it came time to pull the other 3, I request to be knocked out cold!

WiredGuy 10-07-2005 11:26 AM

Yeah, I'm still trying to manage all this bleeding. Between the drugs and trying to apply these gauze pads, I'm having one hell of a time. I wasn't able to drive home so I've only got the drugs in me right now, I wasn't able to swing by the pharmacy to get my prescription filled. So we'll see how well I manage without anymore meds!

Damn that Canadian free health system! Here they would have given you a general anesthetic, a spray to prevent the gag reflex (I told the doctor they should market it.....) and stuff a LOT better that Tylenol #3 for the pain ;)

Glad you everything's OK!

clickhappy 10-07-2005 11:29 AM

I wish it was free! Dental coverage is definitely not free and seeing how I'm self employed, no dental insurance either! It wasn't that bad though, at least not yet.

glad to hear your feelin better - get well soon

Cyndalie 10-07-2005 12:29 PM

I'd pay someone to pull mine out for free, no pain killers at this point

Sosa 10-07-2005 12:34 PM

damn. I was knocked out when I got my 4 done. Took about 30-45 mintues and all 4 were out and I was on my way home.

Doctor Dre 10-07-2005 01:44 PM

Peaches we don't have free dental care here ...

Jay 10-07-2005 02:08 PM

OUCH!! :helpme I hope you are feeling better. My dentist has been telling me for the last two years I need to get mine out, but keep putting it off because I am scared to death. I would have mine done by an oral surgen and be put out for it though. I am going to have to do it soon. :Oh crap

That's the same situation I was in. He kept telling me for at least 3 years you need to get these pulled out and I figured since I have no shows or anything major coming up for at least a month, now would be a good time. I had the option to be put out entirely by a surgeon too, but the price would be nearly double and it would be the exact same net effect afterwards except I'd also be groggy for a few days. The pain now is doable (I'm not on any meds now that they're out of my system), the pain during the actual extraction was less than 5 minutes worth and the bulk of it was the needles that numbed me. I definitely didn't want to be groggy for days so I opted for the local. I feel much better now although my jaw is a bit weak but i can talk and work from home pretty normally now.

You got all 4 pulled out in the same session? Yikes!

I was only born with 3 wisdom teeth. They're deep in my gums still asleep.

I've never understood why they don't just knock you out for those kinds of procedures. Would make things a lot easier on both the patient and the doctors.

TinaBallina 10-07-2005 08:11 PM

Have you all met charles? my poor baby right now, in pain, will try to make you feel better...........xo

now rest up so i don't worry bitch........lol

The Adult Broker 10-07-2005 10:09 PM

i got all 4 pulled at the same time and it was a traumatic experience. and the pain was horrible for days after.

Stacey_JoinRightNow 10-07-2005 10:24 PM

I didn't want to feel groggy for days and it's half the price to get a local anesthetic with the same net effect really. Last night was kinda painful but I'm feeling fantastic now and I'm not on any drugs anymore.
