welcome to the Land of the Free!

gangbangjoe 10-06-2005 12:10 PM

wtf?

do they know the term "freedom of speech"?

ignorant fuckers...

i wear shirts like gfy, sucks being you andfuck stupid people all the time and if this would happen to me they would regret it

Chris 10-06-2005 12:14 PM

i had an issue like this with cont.
I wore my GFY hoodie on the plane and they asked if I could go the flight without wearing it and I said " Sure no problem " and in return I got two free drinks and a 100$ voucher to some gay clothing store in the Dallas airport :)

The Truth Hurts 10-06-2005 12:15 PM

freedom of speech doesn't apply.
my house... my rules... don't like my rules... get the fuck out of my house.
simple.

LiveDose 10-06-2005 12:19 PM

P R I V A T E C O M P A N Y !!!

pornguy 10-06-2005 12:20 PM

The thing is, she has the right to freedom of speech, but under US federal law, they have the right to refuse service to anyone.

Doctor Dre 10-06-2005 12:20 PM

They can make their own rules if they want too ... only problem si that they kicked her off halfway through

Babagirls 10-06-2005 12:21 PM

Heasley said no one from Southwest said anything about the shirt when she waited two hours near the gate at Los Angeles International Airport. And neither the pilot, nor other crewmembers, said anything when she boarded the aircraft, Heasley added.

After the plane stopped in Reno at noon Tuesday, she and her husband, Ron, moved to the front of the plane. Passengers began complaining about the T-shirt as they boarded.
---------------------

ironic how "we" want freedom, but its "us" thats taking it away from each other. un fuckin real.

pornguy 10-06-2005 12:21 PM

Looks like a good reason for the airlines to have t-shirts on board, so when faced with something liuke this, they can giver her a free t, and just ask her to change for the duration.

Fetish Gimp 10-06-2005 12:21 PM

If you're not sucking Bush's dick you're a terrorist. She obviously didn't get that memo.

I was looking for something like that. Was it in the PDF?

ServerGenius 10-06-2005 12:36 PM

it doesn't say anything about humorous :winkwink:

TreasureBucks 10-06-2005 12:43 PM

:2 cents: I think she wins this case.

Should have known not to fly southwest in the first place.
They suck! They overbook flights all the time... and, if you want a decent seat, and one with your travel partner, you have to get there WAY in advance, or else your sitting acrossed from someone in the back of the plane and your travel partner may be sitting somewhere else.

I have to agree with you Southwest Airlines are not owned by the US government and the owners have the right to refuse service if they choose to.

Fred Quimby 10-06-2005 12:46 PM

FAA regulation state the airline will deny boarding to any customer whose conduct is offensive, abusive, disorderly or violent or for clothing that is "lewd, obscene, or patently offensive."

Tat2Jr 10-06-2005 12:55 PM

They DO have the right to make their own rules, and I have the right to not fly them ever again.... which I'm now doing.

I just called their Customer Relations number at 214-792-4223 to complain (why should Christians have all the fun getting to complain?), but they are out of the office until tomorrow.

DrinkingHarder, not picking a fight with you, or trying to start a "seriuos" argument :)

But, since when does a company have to be owned by the government in order to be sued by an individual for rights violations???

4 of the top 7 "private" airlines in this country are flying under government bankruptcy protection right now. The government is funneling money to them to keep them in the air. Not that that means anything though.

this the shirt?

May not be..... it came from cafepress, but it may or may not be THE shirt.

For all the truly stupid in this thread, and there's more than one of you:

Amendment I

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

When a law is passed making it illegal to wear a tshirt, then you have a freedom of speech issue. When a private company kicks you off a private airliner under their own terms and conditions, you're just fucked.

If things worked the way you appear to want them to, I could go to your house and run my mouth 24/7 and be protected by "freedom of speech!". Kind of absurd, don't you think?

This is why I love you so much!!! :Graucho

DID any of you read the article?
The govt didn't make the decision the airline did, they have the right to.
they aren't suing the FAA, they're suing Southwest.

Read shit before you preach about oppresion and lack of freedom, she has the right to wear what she wants, she is also given teh right to sue.

Bama 10-06-2005 02:28 PM

"The real issue, he said, is that the airline allowed her to wear the shirt onboard and then objected only when people complained."

Well duhh!

Nobody is offended or gives a damn if you have gas - till you start farting.

je_rome 10-06-2005 06:01 PM

I just think its very unfair.

Yep, absolutely right. The airline was being pussies, at the risk of offending a few "republican passengers" I am betting. It wasn't the govt, it was Southwest Airlines taking the pansy way out.

And she will probably sue them, and win.

PimpDaddyPants 10-06-2005 06:13 PM

Whats this world coming too?

I wore a shirt at the airport once that said "Hacker" on it and they still let me fly...

I should try wearing my "Pussy Cash" or something similar " I saw your mom on CrackWhore Concessions" and see what anyone says next time I fly.

;)

Dalai lama 10-06-2005 06:17 PM

On my next flight I'll wear my GFY shirt, see what happends.

FelixFlow 10-06-2005 06:25 PM

pretty juvenile for a 36yr old woman to wear a shirt with cursewords on it, so that little children can read
