My Kitty.. the real Persian Kitty has cancer

He's not down and out yet.. but it's likely to be soon. After years of battled with cysts in his liver, he's developed a growth that is definitely cancer. Because of his age and other health issues, he's not a candidate for chemo. He's gotten severely anemic and had to have a blood transfusion yesterday. Today he's feeling better and has eaten but for now it's a matter of bringing him home.. making him comfortable... and happy.. and watching how he's doing on a day by day basis. This is the third old cat of mine in the last four years to get terminally ill. Vet says that these days people take such good care of them that they often live twice as long as usual and then the systems just start going. Smokey is 17. The two before him were 19 and 17.

I can't wait to get him home and snuggle him up tonight.

What a gorgeous cat! She looks beautiful and healthy. I think she's led a very happy life! It's obvious she has been loved. I'm sorry that you will be losing the cat, but it looks like she's been loved and taken care of. A long and happy life :-)

Shaft_1971 10-06-2005 01:06 PM

Hope all goes well :(

Hentaikid 10-06-2005 01:08 PM

My 13 year old cat died last month, cancer in the liver. I watched her die, the poor thing. :(

Still, she had a good life.

TreasureBucks 10-06-2005 01:11 PM

That sucks... losing pets that you truly care about, hurts like a muther fucker.

Someone poisoned my dog in TN.

I put my house up for sale the next day...had enough of the bumpkin neighbors.

LexiLexxx 10-06-2005 01:15 PM

My cat, Momma Boy died last year.

I was pregnant at the time, he never got to meet my son...but I had him 19 yrs and he was a great friend! So sorry to hear about your cat!!

sorry to hear that

GoBig 10-06-2005 01:36 PM

Sorry to hear about your kitty PK :(

There was a thread awhile back (and lots of references to this on the web) about a guy who cured his dogs cancer by feeding it cottage cheese + ground + flax seed + flax seed oil + CoQ10 I believe.

Google for cottage cheese + flax + pets maybe.

abadfish 10-06-2005 01:38 PM

:(

My childhood cat is getting really old now and is 16+ years old... she lives at my parents house still and I'll be sad to see her go.

KMR Stitch 10-06-2005 01:39 PM

That sucks pk. Are you going to get another Persian kitty? or perhaps you can always buy a beardy ;-) Someone tells me those are really cool pets

a1ka1ine 10-06-2005 01:39 PM

17 is a very good age for a cat, that indeed is a very well cared for kitty

Furious_Male 10-06-2005 01:41 PM

Sorry to hear that your cat is sick. I lost 3 to cancer within a 2 year time frame. I know what its like :(

Stallion 10-06-2005 01:45 PM

Bill8 10-06-2005 02:08 PM

My wife and I learned our beloved cat, who is also 17 and has been with us since the first days of our relationship, also has cancer. He's been getting chest taps to help him breathe, and has been having a great time, all things considered, hunting and playing in the yard and woods around our house.

We know he will die soon, and we are very sad, but at least he is really enjoying his last days.

So, I really understand how you must be feeling.

Paul&John 10-06-2005 02:11 PM

sorry to hear that

hottoddy 10-06-2005 02:18 PM

I am sorry. It just seems like just yesterday you were posting about another of your older cats passing. It's good to know you give them such long and rewarding lives.

selena 10-06-2005 02:18 PM

Sorry to hear about your pet. I know that has to be painful for you to think of. :(

why don't you try this - http://www.greatdreams.com/cancer-cure.htm
it's an animal and it's probably much more easy to cure
i've heard it happened many times... even with people

Elli 10-06-2005 02:24 PM
