Do you have a change pile?

mine has been growing rapidly over the last few months... I NEVER take change with me (only notes) and hardly ever use coins to pay for things.

$140 in change, all coins...

do you have a pile?

Evil Doer 10-06-2005 01:59 AM

I use a water cooler jug, 1/4th the way filled... :)

StickyGreen 10-06-2005 02:01 AM

yea but i keep taking it to the coinstar at albertsons like every week so it doesnt build up too big lol....

Ace-wtf 10-06-2005 02:03 AM

The Ghost 10-06-2005 02:05 AM

everytime i get home from shopping or the city, wheever, i put all my change in a jar for my little girl to keep.

the change seems to be worth a lot less, although there appears to be more here in Canada but i guess its coz back in oz we dont have 1 cent coins.

but on an average week i can put away anywhere from $60-80 just in small change .. whch is pretty good savings to a 3 year old.

BIGTYMER 10-06-2005 06:05 AM

Yep, I've got tons of coins.

Sosa 10-06-2005 07:15 AM

I throw mine in a cup and then dup that into a bigger bag once the cup gets full.

EroticySteve 10-06-2005 07:16 AM

I keep change in a pail. Every few years I'll go through it and roll it and deposit it. Often hundreds of dollars of change.

LauraLee 10-06-2005 07:20 AM

Yep, i have a piggy bank. Saving change these days is easy sleazy, my bank has one of those coinstar machines so no more rolling it all up like we did when we were kids!

amandaspost 10-06-2005 08:56 AM

yea, i have a piggy bank too

selena 10-06-2005 09:07 AM

I'm anal. My change gets seperated into 4 containers. Quart mason jar for quarters, pint mason bar for dimes, crown royal bottle for nickles, and a wicker basket for pennies.

WiredGuy 10-06-2005 09:14 AM

I have a huge pile, I would guess about $100 or so worth and I usually roll them up while watching tv shows. I could use those coinstar machines to do it for me but they take like a 10% cut. I figure I can do it myself while doing something like watching tv for free so why not :)

No way, you roll your own coins... :helpme j/k I actually used to do the same myself but one of the local banks has a machine you can use to count your coins and its 100% free. :) I have about 6 of those big huge coffee cans full of silver change. The pennies go in a seperate container. I know I have well over $500.00 in coins. When I cash them in I will use it to open a savings account of some sort for my 3 month old twin girls.. :upsidedow

georgeyw 10-06-2005 07:23 PM

yes have piles of the little bastards all over the place. I use to be organised and keep them in all separate jars but lately it's all overflowed so there are random piles around my house. It's great for "emergencies" :)

Lace 10-06-2005 07:30 PM

notes...lol you damn aussie.

but yeh, i hate coins, and hate carrying them in my pocket. always take em to the coinstar machine

Spunky 10-06-2005 07:49 PM

I have about 4 plastic pop containers filled with them..too lazy to roll them up and we don't have those machines to do it for you here

Does that local bank roll them for free too or just count? That would be a great way to get rid of all that change quickly. 3 months old already too?! Wow, seemed like just a few weeks ago when we all went out to dinner at that lobster place!

i have two piles contained in old whiskey tins. one for change, and one for 1 and 5 dollar bills. currently, they are both half full. i don't know how much that equals out to, but when i fill them up completely i am gonna count them out and probably buy myself a new gun. :upsidedow

The machine counts and gives you paper money back. :) And yeah, they are growing fast :upsidedow

Frank The Tank 10-07-2005 07:46 AM

2% near my house for coinstar

SykkBoy 10-07-2005 09:07 AM

we have a huge sparklets water jug that gets emptied about every 3 months and i divide it and put it into the Junior Saver accounts I have set up for my kids at my bank.

HammerALL 10-07-2005 09:40 AM

We started a water cooler job change jar here at the office for change - it was getting there - but people keep on raiding it :(

The proceeds were supposed to go to a night at the rippers!

fudpuck 10-07-2005 09:48 AM

I have a couple big plastic tubs I throw my change in each night. I only cash it in to buy real silver coins...or to do my laundry when my washer breaks.

:winkwink:

PAR 10-07-2005 09:49 AM

adding some security to the jar... right after I finish this post.... mario think we can get your puppy to watch it for us...

All donations to the stripper Jar can be sent to PB :) lol
