Trial members areas what do you know about them
I am thinking about adding them to MIP
but I want to get some other peoples thoughts on them. are they worth it? pros and cons |
You mean where trial members get a limited amt of content and you upsell them on the full membership?
|
if you have very tempting videos to spur the trial members on, it can work pretty well. i promoted one program that brought down 55% conversions using a limited trial.

bump for the day crowd

The potential is there to piss off a LOT of (trial) members and create chargeback worries. :2 cents:

Thanks Alex it's good to hear that!
anyone else have any insite |
FWIW from a review standpoint, limited trials and DRM are the two things we hear more complaints about from surfers than anything else. I think it makes some upset that they go through all the terms and conditions (as well as anything else they can find) and have no real way to know the trial is limited until it's already too late.
I think if it had been that way since the beginning, it wouldn't be as big of a deal as it is now since they've come to expect certain things. |

A enduser that joins a trial membership typically cancels regardless of their access. Look at the industry standard. Roughly 65% trial members cancel. So it is of my opinion that those that bitch about the limited access are the same endusers who go in for a few bucks and leech the content regardless of how much the site has to offer with no intentions of EVER being a monthly member. |

It would defiently be clearly disclosed I dont think it should be hidden from the surfer it would counter the whole thing when your chargebacks go up |
The 'limited' aspect in some trials certainly seems to have made it a very dirty word (and not in a good way). But that's because far too many limited trials are a ripoff and about as compelling as a bag of fleas. Draw them in, give them lots of ways to become engaged. If they perceive value-for-money on an inexpensive trial, they're more likely to have a little faith in the value of the full membership. :thumbsup
