yeah... listened to them a lot this summer, but I got bored of that talking-singing-rapping thing!!!
The streets rock.. Original Pirate Material is a great album, and the new one well new as of this year is quite good as well.
I'm a big fan. And they aren't a "band".
Original Pirate Material one of the best albums ever, truly original, nothing been done like that before in the UK. Best choon on Grand For Free is "Blinded By The Lights" which I think is just epic, overall the 2nd album is more commercial but still great. |
streets are cool I like the first stuff better the second album is ok though good to listen to as an album its like a story :o)
everyone should be listenning to pendulum though: http://www.juno.co.uk/products/184095-02.htm |
reminds me of Jilted John to much.
Mike Skinner is good... saw him live and he sucked! Dry your eyes is the best track they've ever done. Surprised you americans can understand what he says. Alot of it is British slang.
The Irony of it all is great.
The Streets are great. First real act that hasn't tried mimicking US rap and hiphop but built his own style
I can identify with so many of his songs. The lyrics are great. I. P.S. chodadog whats with the sig? Explain? |

I seen The Streets in a small club in Toronto last year. They're great it's actually only one dude named Mike Skinner. He recorded the first album in his bedroom at his parents house.

Where's Tofu? We must have a weekly discussion about The Streets.
i love 'the streets'! ;)
I really like their video for "Fit But You Know It". I've heard a few of their other songs but they really don't grab me. It's the video that makes me like that song as much as I do. I probably wouldn't listen to just the song.
i hate them they annoy the shit out of me
Same here :2 cents:

I think it really helps to be from London because he talks about stuff I don't think would translate well outside of the UK> However..check out 'Dry Your Eyes'..trust me on this one. I can't listen to it with out wanting to cry. |

"What did I have?" this proud old woman did say. "I had four green fields, Each one was a jewel. Till strangers came, and tried to take them from me. I had fine, strong sons. They fought to save my jewels. They fought and they died. And that is my grief," said she. "Long time ago," said the fine old woman, "Long time ago," this proud old woman did say. "There was pain and death, Plundering and pillage. My people starved, from mountain, valley and sea. And their wailing cries, They reached the highest heavens. And my four green fields Ran read with their blood," said she. "What have I now?" asked the fine old woman "What have I now?" this proud old woman did say. "I have four green fields, One of them's in bondage. In stranger's hands, who tried to take it from me. But my sons have sons, As brave as were their fathers. And my fourth green field Will bloom once again," said she. |
