Its a wild guess, but there could be an anti-trust suit over this.

"Cogent is addressing that immediate problem by offering 12 months of free access to any Level 3 customer who wants to connect to its customers"

My home connection is on L3, im going to call them up and get 12 months free. :1orglaugh

Hey Sagi - are you at work or just posting?

I have a very good friend on the inside of Cogent and I've been told that this is a common practice for Cogent to secure new customers. Even at $10 / Mbps for USA or $15 Mbps Canadian - they are still averaging an 80% margin.

The fact is that Cogent built a better mouse trap from the beginning and now with the debt load that both Level 3 and GBLX (as well as others) its getting close to their times to start to dying off.
