NYC is ultra expensive and you get hardly any sq footage for the money.
|
$3,141,592,654 a month! (Park avenue) - pretty irrational, NO?
|
Expect to pay at least $2000/mo for something nice. We rented a short term (2 months) furnished apartment thru www.nyhabitat.com - recommended.

3-5k/month is fucking expensive..
i wonder how much will cost an apartment with 2 rooms to buy and how many people from the 20.000k people that live in new york have they own apartment |
I was paying 1400/mo for a studio before I left Manhattan in 2000. The same place is going for around 2000/mo now.
A lot of the full time residents of Manhattan are living in rent controlled housing or lucked out. I have a friend who was on a waiting list for cheap housing for 5 years before a new building opened up in the East Village, 2BR, plenty of room for his wife and 2 kids, and he's paying $480/mo. Makes me cry, but good for them. It's a fuckin' nice building, too. |
Insane prices.
|
Some of those places really suck. You need to pay like $5-6K for a nice place in NYC.
With that kind of money in Scotland, I can own a 6 bedroom house with double garage and huge garden! |
Here's just a look at what $4000 a month could get you in Scotland

|
What'd you expect? It's NYC.

If anyone wants a great deal on a 2 bedroom in Queens let me know.
|
By buddy has a 950sq ft apartment in NoHo, they just had it appraised at 1.25 million, so you do the math. NYC is insane with their prices, luckily they picked it up along time ago for $159,000 when there was no NoHo and it was the worst area in NYC to own. A good apartment in NYC is going to run you $3-4k a month
|
I paid 4k a month to live in a 2/2 in manhattan for 4 months.
|
alot of fucking money. what part of Manahattan?
|
a lot of place are expensive as hell, and still not the safest places to live
|
no fucking way I would live in NYC. Too many people for 1, and then the prices are fucking crazy.
|
If is so fucking expensive to rent or buy an apartment in NY how can aford 20.000k people to live there?
How can aford the people that work on McDonald's in NY to live there? How much win someone that work on McDonalds in NY for example? |

too much money in NY small room 10X8 could cost you 600$
|
NYC is the coolest place to live during the day & party at night, & the shittiest place to sleep off a hangover, fucking 5-6am horns blaring, jack hammers repairing sidewalks. Waiting 20 minutes to get your car outta some sorta elevator lift only to find scratchs.
Fuck NYC, i got a love/hate with it. Love the taxi drivers, its like gta3 when they got open road in the morning. Love the food. Love the diversity Hate the smell Hate the crime |
all depends on the quality: $2000 to $5000 is not unreasonable - in a quality area with all services - doorman - etc..

I rented from Jakobson properties for 5 years before we moved out of the city. They have a shitload of apt.s and there is no agency fee.
http://www.nofeerentals.com figure on at least 2k unless you want to live in a shitbox or in Brooklyn (same thing) :1orglaugh |
and for those of you who say it isn't safe, you obviously haven't lived there and watch too many movies.

Other than 9/11 what are you referring to? Again, speaking in terms of safety related to crime not terrorism. Most recent stats regarding safety are from 2003. |
