people with imporant domain names, i.e. your paysite domains, tgp domains, business..
etc etc etc...
is it safer to become your own enom reseller to keep your domains on?? because i've heard many godaddy etc etc horror stories about them shutting down their domains for stupid reasons... i'm thinking in the long run should i become my own domain reseller?? or where is a good place to have your domains?? currently i have half my domains on Namecheap and the other half on 1and1 what do u suggest? become my own reseller? |
Not sure, but i got facialkiss.com great name for a pay site, anyone wanna buy it :D

thanks bestinbc..
i'm not being paranoid thinking my domains are going to get hijacked... i am just trying to think of what would be the best/safest in the long run |
Don't waste your time (although DO keep your domains off of Godaddy... WAY too many horror stories, and keep your domains locked). Concentrate on your core business.

and about the domains, why is that way ahead of myself?? becoming a reseller costs less then 200 bucks... small price to pay for something as imporant as your domains :2 cents: just trying to see if there is any real benefit to being your own reseller, instead of going through a reseller like namecheap |
hahaha, I wasn't busting on you. It was more of a comment that everytime I'm online you are too and you are three hours ahead of me and I work late at night too. I admire your hard work but we all need sleep. :)

OH, and for those of you that are not promoting Julia Blue -> see sig :)

Well... I have over 400 domains with Go Daddy. Have never had a problem. I'm not saying I'll never have a problem because you always run into problems eventually, but I'm confident that they will help me resolve any issues. I've heard "rumors" about Go Daddy, but never anything real solid.
Being a reseller really isn't going to give you any extra protection because you're still working through a middle company. What's the point? Use a top registrar and you should be fine. I would suggest Go Daddy, but you seem to be paranoid regarding them. |

If you're really worried, I would spread out my domains before becoming a reseller. Use a few different companies.

I recommend using several registrars and some outside the US also.

Also, you said you used 1and1?? You may just have been lucky, but if you value domains it's too easy to end up shit creek with 1and1 and actually lose domains. They may be one of the "biggest hosting companies" on the planet, but nada clue up-front and a call centre with crap lines and totally pointless staff. The track record on complaints is massive. |
I'd jump on doing the reseller account. Not just for security in holding your own accounts, but keep things cheaper hosting, bandwidth, and name wise in the future I would suspect.
|
I use directnic and sleep soundly at night.
|
Yo SOS, if you wanna make sure your precious domains are safe you have to move them to Moniker.com
Safest domain registrar online, many hijack attempts and none succeeded because of their strict security measures. |
