Im setting up a blog however I would like the main page of the blog to be core.html or main.html NOT index.html as I always like to put warning pages before my adult content.

Also i dont like the idea of subdirs, for example www.foo.com/blog/ as they arent nearly as clean IMHO as having the site on the top of the domain.

Is there a simple way to do this?

About the subdirectory, just install the script in the root of your domain ..

Yea got that but how do you make the index (first) page something other than index.html? For ex core.html or main.html
