They are for newbies and for webmasters that promote programs other than Eroticy. :)

True pimp goes big on his speaker cables.

Go big or go home ;)

LOL

seeric 10-04-2005 02:10 PM

thats overkill.

even traveling tour companies for eminem dont use that stuff.

or james brown even. i can see a music studio using that in the right situation. i didn't take time to read all of it, but thats crazy to me.

dont look at what someone does at a live show, look at what kind of gear they use in a recording studio to mix down. apples and oranges

Most studios don't use highend stuff.....it should sound good on the a average
stereo set.....which is why still every studio uses yamaha nx-10 nearfield
monitors....they are as flat as can be.....when it sounds good on them it sounds
good anywhere....

after they have the mix down....they reference on speakers like genelec. :2 cents:

tony286 10-04-2005 02:59 PM

For 11 grand I can get a b list rock band to perform in my living room lol

MattO 10-04-2005 03:01 PM

Anyone who's stupid enough to pay that much for speaker wires most likely has such terrible taste in whatever kind of music they think that they're making sound better they're probably tone deaf to begin with but maybe it makes them feel like they've got a bigger penis, I dunno. "Wow it really brings out the highs in this Leo Sayer CD, woo!"

Basic_man 10-04-2005 03:04 PM

11,700$ for 8' of cables, that's simply ridiculous. I don't know how much high-quality cables worth, but I'm sure it's wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy down low than this..!

DutchTeenCash 10-04-2005 03:06 PM

been there for ages old news and boring as usual from kosta

Nice, since i got rid of all of my DJ and recording equipment the most expensive stereo cable i have is the 1/4" to RCA cable to connect my iPod to my crappy stereo.

I miss my turntables.

its a high price, but when you have the chance to listen to cables next to each other, you can hear a huge difference

Sean 10-04-2005 03:34 PM

This cable is very expensive but if you have speakers from 20K and an amp from that amount you don't want to ruin it with some cheap cables.
I have speaker cables from around $650 for my two front speakers and it sounds better than the cheap ones I used to begin with.
12K for speaker cables is a little extreme tho. But there are even more expensive cables.

You only hear a BIG difference if you're the one who paid for that stuff.....
your family and friends just agree because they don't want to piss you off.
They might hear a difference but not a $XX,XXX.00 difference....they make
jokes about it on the way back home in their $5K cars :1orglaugh

Yes the equipment itself yes....but when doing a mix you want to make sure
it sounds good on EVERY stereo set.....not just on sets with exclusive shit.
nearfield reference monitors are cheap.......very cheap compared to the other
equipment that's being used :2 cents:

you're absofuckinlutly right, mixdowns need to happen on speakers a lil above average. If it sounds good there itll sound good anywhere. I met an engineer named Rainman whos mixed shit for Michael Jackson to Ice Cube, and he gave me the same advice.

The only scenario i could think of that these wires would be ideal for would be for high end producers who bring artists in the studio to sell them beats. If youve ever noticed, producers work on 8-10" speakers while making the beats, but when someone comes in to hear the shit and buy it, they play it on the big ass monitors very loud. :2 cents:

iwantchixx 10-04-2005 04:47 PM

cables liek that are for stupid people.

Fact: 14 gauge cabling is as good as ANYTHING out there.
Fact: Gold plating means NOTHING.
Fact: teh wire isn't gold.. so the plating means fuck all.

it's teh same with Monster cables. All bullshit.

Furious_Male 10-04-2005 04:51 PM

Thats fucking crazy.

munki 10-04-2005 04:58 PM

What is sad is seeing people buy high end cables like this not even realizing their speakers ruin the line integrity. I was working in high end audio a few years back... and even the top top of the line speakers were using shit internal wiring. Lucky to get something even properly shielded in the most expensive of speakers. Does wiring count, yes... but if you are going to go balls out on cabling like this, better be ready to tear apart your highend monitors and do some modding to make sure the internal drivers can keep up.
