India Vs Peru - where wld u go?

ive been offered work by 2 places, 1 is a university in India and the other is an Educational Institution in Peru.

Both locations are very remote - not in the cities.

I know a lot about India and the culture etc (being part Indian) but I know shit all about Peru.

Both places are offering me the work on my terms/demands - so i dunno which is best.

Also anyone know what the cost of living is like in Peru?

opinions anything I need to know?

by the way i dont do drugs these days so the cocaine in peru is not an influencing factor in this :winkwink:

Peru is amazing, i´ve been there 4 times...but now i´m not updated on the cost of living, can check it for you...

I was in Peru not too long ago its a very beautiful place some of it is situated quite high above sea level so you may first want to check that out.
One thing to be wary of is theft. In Equador and Peru the national sport / pastime is stealing so always watch you passport and wallet. Most people in Peru are about 5 feet tall so at 6-2" i was a giant and no body troubled me in the 3 months i stayed there. Food is very good and cost of living is cheap. If you like small women then this is the place for you although i don't remember seeing many stunning babes while i lived there.

India when i visited many years ago left me with memories of poverty poor quality food and hotels and the worst case of the shits i ever had !!!!

I have been to Peru and loved every minute of it.

Spent three weeks working in Lima and a week in the Jungle, and didn't want to leave.

wow - just wanted i always wanted - a country where everyone is as short as me - i might start to feel taller (im only 5' 1" ) :)

Giorgio_Xo 10-03-2005 09:15 AM

I am Peruvian.

I visited for three months every year from 1979-1993 and I lived there from 1995-1999. It is an intense place with alot to absorb. If you would like to talk, please feel free to call me at (916) 671-1304.

It depends where you are located in Peru. It makes a big difference where and what you will do.

I wouldnt be able to pick.. both countries have some incredible mountains.

BradShaw 10-03-2005 10:03 AM

Eeck, can you imagine the smell in India?

Porko 10-03-2005 10:06 AM

Peru. And after, brazil and argentina !

TheSenator 10-03-2005 10:28 AM

I am Peruvian.

I go back every other decade for months at a time. The beaches on the north of Peru are beautiful and cheap. If you are out in the country side Huancayo is the place to be because the temp is spring like year round. If you have money you can have live in servants and cooks.

well I would say Peru because of the region. you're close to Brazil, Argentina, and Chile which are great countries.

boneprone 10-03-2005 05:26 PM

I am not familiar with Peru but a friend that work in India once told me he aint really satisfied with the poor salary standard there.

Damian_Maxcash 10-03-2005 07:56 PM

Ive never been to Peru, but India is great - just takes a little getting used to.

Its in my list of places to move too. India, Spain, NZ (again) and Oz (again) are on the list at the moment.

I am peruvian.
Living in Peru... I might have some more recent information than what my fellow emigrants :winkwink: have.
How are you doing guys up there? It's all good here.

Well actually you're lucky to be offered a job in a remote place. I would say the rest of Peru, not Lima, is where the beauty resides.

Where would you go? PM me, or 341188819 (ICQ) lets talk, I could answer some questions for ya...

Never been to India but I heard it's a wonderful country, too.

Cheers!
Nicolas.
