UK Webmasters check in :)
Just wondered what other UK webmasters do with their $$ cheques, i bank with lloyds tsb which have been great so far, just im getting a bit screwed over with their foreign cheque charges etc..
Any fellow webmasters got any banking tips or suggestions? you can hit me up on icq: 269084208 - any advice would be really great :helpme :helpme |
Try calling your sponsor and ask them if they could pay you by wire transfer instead of check. There are always people who are willing to make exceptions like this.

HSBC charges for both receiving foreign currency transfers and cheques, so it's a bit of a bastard.
I'd like to know of any UK bank that offers a USD business account with online banking, but so far I aint seen nothing. |
Get wires and any cheques go in my Lloyds account fine.

Ya same here lloyds charge like $8-$12 one great advantage with them though is every time I put a cheque it's cleared and ready to use the next day most of the time which is faster then normal UK cheques. But only other way is get a epassporte account with card instant payment retrieval from cashpoint but sponsor needs to pay into epassporte.

Wires are best for bigger ammounts, but Epass is pretty good.
Get the card and you can get cash as soon as it it paid. The exchange rate is ok and you dont get charged for withdrawing money, even from those silly machines in the shops that normally charge a few quid. If you have people anywhere in the word you send money to often then its great to open a gift acount for them and just use epass.... I pay for my cats lodging in NZ and it used to cost a fortune Wetern Union or Bank Trans every month. |
HSBC charge me a fiver percheque - but normally if i take them all in at once i only get the single charge. I have my CCbill wired to me monthly now. Its still my biggest monthly payer and i like that its all taken care of :)

We can pay UK webmasters by cheque in Sterling now. No more waiting for cheques to clear or bank fees :winkwink:
|
Try Barclay's, You can pay in multiple cheques for just one small fee..
|
Usually costs me around $14 for each cheque i put in.
It used to go through amlost right away, but now it can take as much as 2 weeks. I use the Royal Bank. Sucks... :disgust |
