Stop using Blogger.com or blogspot

As everyone knows, I run the largest adult top list (some 3000 sites have joined). Over the last month, I've had to delete dozens of listings because they use Blogger.com (blogspot.com) and had their blog deleted.

Stop using them, you'll only get your blog deleted.

Lykos 10-02-2005 02:35 AM

So any explanation why is blogger bad to use?
Thanx

Yeah but you get SE boost for using blogger / blogspot.

ynuahayt 10-02-2005 03:01 AM

Blogger has a free image host built in but you can't upload hardcore pictures to it - that's probably what happened with those blogs. I think they allow hardcore pictures if you put them up on an external server but who needs hardcore when you got SE traffic anyway!? ;)

JD 10-02-2005 03:03 AM

i've been telling people this for months...... get a fucking domain.....get some fucking hosting....using blogger is fucking retarded. You may get a MINOR se boost but your "site" WILL eventually get killed if you use blogger.

RSD 10-02-2005 03:13 AM

Stop using Blogger.com
Start using AdultBlocks.com

;)

I was arguing with a professor the other day who insisted blogs were new.

Unfortunately that is untrue. If it is deemed as innapropriate (by the reviewers standards) it will be deleted, and not just pics, text content is included. They also use the flag now to point out blogs that may be distasteful.

That was the writing on the wall when they implemented that.

I have been testing it, and i have a couple blogs there that have had over 50 users flag them since the system was implemented, none have yet to be deleted, and some of them have some very "inappropriate materials" on them.

I think its important to know exactly what can and cant be pushed with them. I will share the info when i come to some conclusions but simply put there is no correlation between all the deletes i have saw (most DID NOT have hardcore content on them, but the text was very risque.)

Time will tell how far the blogs are allowed to go. I can only speculate what you "can" and "cant" get away with.

BUT one thing i have found is this WASNT brought into play to target adult content. Allthough it makes it easy to police now and we will pay the price by default, the reasonings behind this lay more closely to hatred and "illegal" activities seen on many of there sites. One recent event that helped speed up the flag system was the blog of the sexual serial killer, where just from reading..you could see the evilness brewing. (http://fifthnail.blogspot.com) I think also blogspot must set itself up so that it can "purge" the system if current regulations enforce them to comply with Fed and Local laws..ie 2257.

Keep your blogs in single logins, dont have more then one blog under a login. (they wont just delete the blog, they will remove the account) And make sure the blogs are not shown on blogger (in the settings). You also want to NOT let comments, and also REMOVE your profile from the pages, and DO NOT show your blogs in your profile.

Never host an image with them, and refrain from posting anything racial, borderline immoral , or hardcore. And despite the normal benefits, update them regularly, this shows activity and will mean the diferance often between being seen as spam or as someones active site (what they want).

Enough of that.

VicD 10-02-2005 02:50 PM

yes, they deleted my blog some time ago, without a good reason, fuckers

never use a free service, you'll get fucked over sooner or later :Oh crap

My only real issue with Blogger/Blogspot sites is that SEs (okay, Google) seem to still have difficulty indexing properly. Very inconsistent - one day indexed, then gone. I get enough traffic from Yahoo to make it still worthwhile but I won't start any more - use my own domains and freeware.

twan 10-03-2005 11:58 AM

Yup, blogger is risky business, you might be lucky and slip through there system. But the question is for how long, you spend days building a cool blog and trading links with everything and everyone while knowing your blog might be gone the next morning. That should worry you. :2 cents:

I would suggest you look for alternatives, maybe a free adult blog host like thumblogger is a idea, it's in business for over 1 year now and is still running stable.
