Server transfer questions...

Ok,
I have several sites on a server thats with a shitty company.
Turns out it's some kid who runs the "company" from his moms house.
He doesn't answer emails, won't offer any support whatsoever etc.

I need to switch my sites to a new provider.

The problem is, I'm not sure what to do.

How do I get everything transfered?
Am I supposed to download all of the files and things and reupload them or is there a more efficient way to do this?

Pretty desperate here.

Come on, shit!

Choose a good managed host and they can assist you with the transfer, and will provide all the support and guidance you need.

isprime, phatservers, natnet, realitychecknetwork and several others

Linux or Windows? If the servers are linux you can rsync them to a new server

Please do post what company that is so everyone can steer clear of it...

do you own the server? do you need to move the hardware? Is it space of a shared box? is it dedicated? Lots of info you've left out.

If you have ssh access, then it can be moved with Rsync as stated above.

If you have Cpanel, the new host can also moved it from his WHM .

If not, then it has to be moved " by hand " :

- dowload sites to local computer, backup all databases to local computer.
Upload sites to new, restore databases ...

Good luck.

What kind of plan can I get? What is phat servers? lol

I'm willing to talk plans...

I pay $120 per month and I get unlimited bandwidth. But as explained before, I get no support at all.

Do you have cpanel on your old server.

Do this to find out.

http://yourdomain.com:2082/ (replace yourdomain with your domain)

If a username and password box comes up then most hosts like us http://dwhs.com can move you seamlessly.

Yes, I have Cpanel on my server.
It's a dedicated also.
