Ligers and Tigons
So there are already quite a few cross-breeds out there. A Tigon or a Liger is an example of a Chimera. That's a loose definition of a Chimera which is essentially the combination of two different breeds.
It gets more interesting to think that there are Natural Human Chimeras, where twins combined to be a single person. There are people with multiple sets of internal organs each with it's own set of DNA.
Medicine has been using animal parts for some time to preserve human life. Heart valves etc. These people are now technically Chimeras too.
What is the future of Chimera research? Will we be able to create new species of animals for different purposes? Will we have real life human chimeras such as a human that can fly? Or a dog so intelligent that it can speak with you and play poker?
